San Luis Obispo, CA
Day 41
Monday 10 February

After a sleep in the terminal at SFO, I boarded the plane to SLO (airport code SBP) where I was able to select an exit row at no charge. The flight was short & SBP is fun sized so I was out & waiting for my friends soon after landing.

With my company sorted for the next 2 days, breakfast was the first thing on the agenda so we went to Dennys - a tradition for us in SLO.

Next I dropped off 43 pounds of clothes to be washed & then went to a Coinstar to change my numerous coins into an Applebees voucher. I forgot one bag of coins so we need to go again.

After a sleep, my friends & I went for a ride on the infamous SLO double decker bus & hung out downtown before bringing dinner back to the ranch to eat.

Last time I was here, I saw but didn't get to ride the infamous SLO double decker. There's been a fair bit of opposition to the double decker bus here - some people don't seem to think the city needs it. However, the college kids are a major user of the buses here & the major routes are busy.

There's one double decker bus so we decided to go to the transit centre downtown & wait for it. Soon enough, we found a double decker bus icon on the company's app & thought that was the bus we needed. We then found out that the other single decker buses (the rest of the fleet) were shown as single decker buses on the app.

The wait was over...

For the next hour, we rode the entire route which runs in a massive loop around the area.

Despite the financial problems California might be having, they can still afford yellow paint for their road markings.

My SLO hosts, both double decker upper deck virgins.

End of the trip back at the transit centre.

No, the bus isn't named Madonna. But one of the major streets is.

Me doing selfies isn't hard. Me taking photos of others isn't hard. But taking a selfie of all 3 of us of varying heights isn't easy. So we were basically recreating the photo we took in Bubblegum Alley when we got photobombed by a total babe.

Too bad for me she had to go & get a connecting bus.

The bus drives off on it's next run & we decide to walk downtown.

The bus company that runs routes to out of SLO are trying to tell us to catch the bus because fuel is expensive.

But by Australian standards, fuel is cheap.

$3.39/gal as photographed in Walla Walla & $3.75/gal in SLO - America, you are way in front!

There's a large Spanish speaking population here in SLO.

Some shops are starting to take advantage of the SLO acronym.

This store is closing soon.

There's a Flip Flop store. Seriously.

Emergency. There's no wifi at Starbucks.

There's a wide range of places to eat & drink & listen to music downtown.

All thawed out. Caught up a lot of sleep.

I don't think there's an In N Out near here. Flying out tomorrow from
SBP - LAX - NRT. Looking forward to the SQ A380.

The closest In N Out Burger is about 5 minutes north to the north on Lincoln but stay right at the road split. If you go there in a taxi it would be best to hold him while you get served. The Big Blue Bus can get you there together with the shuttle from the airport.

I don't think I'll be doing it - it will cut into my lounge time.

Yes the rules are dem rules in AFF land.
You deplane and you go to de In N Out to check if $3.71 will fill you up.

Hmmm.

0957 into LAX from SBP on UA.
1415 from LAX to NRT on SQ.

So if I was to go to In & Out, here's the directions should I decide to walk it.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1392157054.378918.jpg

I'll be arriving T7 & be departing TBIT. I do have bags to claim & check in. I don't think they'll through check bags at SBP on UA for SQ. If they do, that would be so much easier.

I have read that some people have taken the Spot shuttle to/from LAX as the garage is next door to In & Out.

Thoughts?
