Erk, what do the numbers against the airports represent? +1 for the great report...

It means the number of times I passed through an airport either to arrive or depart. ATL's figure of 7 is inflated because it's a major hub for DL & also because I have a friend there.

Welcome home erkpod. I've enjoyed the vicarious trip through USA, Japan and Singapore.

I attempted to grab this shot of your plane arriving into SYD from the CTB building, though realised later you were probably on the other side of the pier, and there was a large pillar obstructing my view anyway.

Welcome back.I am in awe of your ability to do a TR in real time.
If I am finished within a month after my return I think I have done well.

You probably had a better view of my plane than I did. I love being able to get a decent plane shot before I board or when I deplane. Of the 3 SQ A380 flights I did, I barely had a good view of the plane at either end. This was partly due to gate & associated areas around the gates & partly because of the times I was flying.

If I didn't do it in close to real time, it wouldn't get done. The interaction & experience of the other members here has been awesome.

You'll be amazed where I did some of the TR & having data while mobile in the US & Singapore helped. Also helping was the fact that I took most of the pictures on the phone & was able to upload them easier.

I just realised that I'll be sleeping my own bed for the first time this year.

Thanks again everyone for reading!

My final SQ flight credited today. I've put in the ORC for the cancelled DL sectors & the hotel stay in ATL with Agoda.

The App makes it easier though esp if you use your phone for pix.

I love the app. I much prefer it even if I do have access to the full site.

Same. When the app crashed while you were away I realised how much I used it. Perfect when travelling.

I'll try emulate a little for a cruise on QM2 soon. I reckon you'd like the Maglev train in Shanghai. I'll try video it - 400 kph. I'm going on it not to get to the airport but just to try it out.

Goodness, I'll be erkpodette posting train pics. :p. I don't do selfies though. :D

I think it was early on when the app wasn't working & I was glad when it was fixed.

Now to read through other TR - looks like Jessica's giving me a run for my money on the train stakes on her current trip. I'll be in Europe in June & I'll be thinking about some of the high speed train trips in the meantime that I could be doing.

Will do a bit of train travel in August.Your Shinkansen and then on to Sapporo and some local excursions on Hokkaido until our JR pass runs out.
So I will take lots of piccies for you!

Ok. You win. No way will Jessica come home with one of those. Why two btw?

Eurostar is pretty good, make sure you try it.

I do accumulate a fair bit of coin. I like the blue one better because you can press a button on the front & it makes the train melody noises. The other one only makes noise when you insert coin. And yes, it works with Australian coin. ;)

When I did parts of Europe in 2011, I did a lot of high speed train travel including the Eurostar, TGV, ICE & more. At this stage, I've booked nothing past my flights SYD - AUH - SYD. Am thinking flying EY to FRA & then train from there.

But that's another TR! ;)

If I stayed longer (probably 2015 at the earliest now), Sapporo is on my list for sure as would a JR pass.

When I went to Japan in 2009 I took Shinkansen (Hikari) from Osaka to Tokyo and to Hiroshima using JR pass. My thought was that they weren't as luxurious as the Thalys, ICE or TGV. I'm interested in your opinion on this.

Very efficient - however, we thought the AVE, Acela Express and even Via Rail were far more luxurious.
