Thank you. This is the first eSim provider I have felt comfortable with. I have messaged their online help a few times. Help is very quick and easy.

Just installed with your referral code @prozac .

I'm a bit leery about the timing of installing and activating eSIMs generally. It wants to install now and 'set as primary' etc. Not going to use it for abt 4 days, so I don't think that's a good idea. When should I install it (ie when I arrive in the relevant country (the EU in this case), or just before I arrive) and is there an activation step once installed?

EDIT: Don't worry, looked up their help  :)

I was just about to post this link!

Usually there’s an eSim installation process (can be done in advance) followed by a seperate plan activation - once on the ground (or just prior).

Downloaded the app from your link, entered your referral code, the home page only option is to purchase a plan (before being able to install esim) with a $3 discount... no free 1gb option.

I clicked through from the generic link from FB and got the freebie 1GB option plus an email immediately confirming the 1GB freebie (no purchase required).

@Brissy1, I have communicated the issue with Kolet and they have acknowledged there was an issue with the coding which they have now remedied. Let me know if you do not have the outcome you were hoping for and I will raise it with them?

Meanwhile they have issued a new referral code which is now - FBREF721

I have to say there Help team is very responsive.

Thanks. Worked. Had to delete account and recreate as error "can't use more than 1 code" or similar but no drama.

I like how you download the esim now, have the credit recognised, but then click "Start using my data" when you get to destination.

It might be quicker if you go straight to help and ask there. If unsuccessful I will follow up but I will need personal information.

2GB free data for 2 days. Already have a Kolet eSim? Enter the code - CODEBREAKER

Escaping abroad while avoiding roaming fees feels like an unsolvable mystery? Crack the case with Kolet! - no SIM swapping!

Enter the code CODEBREAKER in the Kolet app to unlock stress-free travel, with 2GB of free data for 2 days. Enter the code now, activate it later.

Cool! Activated and waiting to go. Thanks for posting - I hadn’t seen it myself.

I’m actually using the freebie 1GB / 2d at the moment and will activate the other in the morning (Euro time).

Damn, just bought a new plan for the Caribbean. I must say Kolet walks all over Flexiroam for simplicity. Haven’t compared like for like pricing but if it just works with no hassles that’s worth a bit to me. I’ve had a number of problems getting Flexiroam to work, especially since they enhanced their app

You can still claim it and use it later - not sure the cutoff period?

I may have stuffed (in theory). When redeeming, it asked me for the destination - since I was about to fly to BUD for a week, I just put Hungary. The freebie plan is in there now for “Hungary” (only). It may have let me put in a region but that was academic for me.

FLX is my “Go To” if the price is right but, yeah I hate the new app…

Kolet is comparable but nicer UI. I’ve only used it in Prague and now Budapest. Being Euro based it’s working well. Somewhere like the Caribbean could be a good road test!

It’s cheaper than Airalo and FLX (even after the ongoing MC 15% discount). Kolet has an ongoing 10% discount for FB members. Not sure if they have the 30-40% off sales the FLX has.

I had some hiccups earlier in the year (when they switched over) but the single eSIM with various plans loaded has worked well for me around the world.

I actually bought a Ubigi plan for the next phase of this trip - thought I’d try it out and it was a little cheaper than Kolet.

I did a total rookie error (ie I was stupid). I had my Flexiroam Global Plan up and running (used in Thailand on the way over), but was using Kolet in Europe.

So, I then fly down to Barbados, fire up Flexiroam and ... it didn't say it wasn't working (I didn't get a 'no internet connection' message for any app) just "slow" to non existent. Couldn't do anything. No airport wifi. So to get a taxi (no Uber), I was screwed. Had to beg some usage off someone to get the airport taxi mob to give me a ride, cash.

When I got to my B&B, I looked up and Barbados isn't listed for the Flexiroam Global Plan (or any of their plans, I think). So, stupid of me not to check beforehand.

Kolet's Caribbean plan has Barbados and an odd selection of countries - about 4/7 of the places we'll go on the cruise.

My B&B has 300Mbps wifi!
