eSims, what is your experience.

Does anyone have any good esims for France that use multiple networks and also 5G ?

I used to get France eSIM, from $7.50 AUD | World’s first eSIM store · Airalo which used (Bon Bon) Orange Bouygues SFR 4G/5G but they have changed to (Elan) Orange 4G only :(

I'd focus on an Orange-backed e-sim (largest provider in France, all my home services are with them) and they have a very strong 4G network.

5G is being installed progressively.
Very similar to Telstra.

Quite expensive but the network quality is there, all across France.

Buy a SIM or eSIM - Offers Listing of Europe | Orange Travel (4/5G available)

European Travel SIM : prepaid data SIM card with 60 Go – SFR (second best network - 4/5G available)

Carte SIM prépayée de vos vacances en Europe | Bouygues Telecom (Bouygues, smaller network footprint, 4/5G)

Free plan without commitment for your vacations in Europe (Free, growing 5G footprint, only available in store to retrieve the SIM/e-sim, but also a full coverage across many countries around the world).

I have not tried Firsty but it is based on an Orange-supported service.

That’s where something like Eskimo comes in very handy - a few GBs on a 2yr Global plan for transits and getting out of a pickle.
Eskimos BF deal is buy Global 10GB (2yrs) for US$39 and receive an extra 5GB.

They still have the US$11 off the 10GB Global plan promo until 01 Dec. which is actually better value on a GBs / $ calculation.

The freebie could be handy for a short transit!
@SYD or any of the eSIM gurus out there. If I buy two or even three eSIMs from different providers, can I activate them all and use them at different stages of an overseas trip? I mean going back-and-forth between them.

Yes, up to the limit of your phone!

Also, something like Flexiroam will let you have heaps of plans in parallel and know which to use first.

I guess she just go into the phone’s settings and turn the particular eSIM on or off there.
Yes, just turn on/off the line you want to use. If you already have two lines on, the phone will ask you which one to turn off.

It pays to recheck which line is default voice and data when you do.

eSIM related but at slight Tangent.

My Boost 12 month plan for AU was coming to and end and the cheapest renewal was $300 for 3 times the data I will ever use.

Found I could buy an old SIM online from MyDeal for $230 for plenty of data for my usage. After I got the new SIM up and working just went to the app to migrate to eSim so my slot is free again for if I need it when I go overseas.

Yes. When I switched to amaysim, I just selected the eSIM option and was up and running in minutes.

My UK GiffGaff SIM now lives in the physical slot.

I'm kind of the opposite.
Real AU SIM so I can use eSims overseas.
My iPhone supports 8x eSIMs at any one time.

I have 5 installed at the moment but if I even came close to 8 (currently unlikely), I would just check which one can be uninstalled and reinstalled without grief. Some of the popular ones are actually a bit thingy about deleting their eSIM (probably a good reason to avoid).

I mentioned this day before yesterday and there was a discussion. Kolet cover 190 countries and use fastest networks available.

Whoops, missed those posts :)
Thanks

Anyone used eSIM Thailand. I need calls this time. Airolo is 19days for $16 but eSIM Thailand 30 days unlimited data and local calls $1299. And we will be there 30 days.

I’ve not used it but Thailand is one of the countries that Airalo offers data plus calls/text.

Looks like a decent deal! Not sure about text?

Sorry, your early post had a very large $ value for eSIMs Thailand. That was probably a typo?

TBH, I hadn’t even noticed that you mentioned Airalo! I’ll put it down to slow inflight wifi!

So esim Thailand is cheaper than airolo and much better than the airolo esims I have used in Thailand.
Only niggle they obviously want me to rate usage but always the ring is from a Thai woman who doesn't speak English. I may be wrong and scams Thai style or a different service offered so I no longer answer phone calls.
Easy, quick installation, fast with google maps and translate. They use Dtac as the supplier.
