They have 30% off expiring today 30NEWYR
5GB+ only. But they have sales every other day.

The freebie Global Plan not working will be a PITA for those trying to back to back 2024/25 allowances.

Recently came across China based Mogo /iFreeGrouo while looking at a SIM for an trip next year.
Good rates in China and speaking to their help desk they state the endpoint is outside China (important for Google/ Meta services)

I must check it out. Heading there in a few months.

Meanwhile, I just noticed that Airalo has a bunch of freebie “Welcome eSIMs”.

UK 500MB / 3D
US ditto
others similarly.

Spain 1GB / 1D

I'm using Airolo at the moment during an 8-country trip without any issues. You got to be happy with the pricing, but there is no fault on their service delivery.

I am using eSIM Thailand better than Airolo on previous trips. In fact often better on data roaming than being on the hotel wi fi. Comes with some phone time so can be contacted. Get a few calls. Don't know whether spam or the provider calling but I answer with I don't speak Thai now and they usually hang up straight away.
On arrriving it activated as we stopped at gate so immediately sent a whats App message to our transfer.

Is that 8x eSIMs (1 per country) or one or more Regional plans? Last time I used them, it was a new eSIM each plan - which is not great.

I find their pricing similar to Flexiroam - but without the regular discounts.

I will however use some of these freebies - because I can! 😁

Yep. Not sure if the free giveaway is such a good strategy for these eSim companies where the friction to move is minimal

My 2025 FlexiRoam freebie was just successfully applied for and emails have come in. As I already had the FlexiRoam eSIM from 2024 activation I didn’t have to install anything new. (Just went in to app and selected ‘Activate’)

Therefore, back to back 24/25 successful.

UPDATE: (about 6 hours later)
It actually hasn’t been successful. I can’t make the 2025 pack work.
As it’s the Latitude 28 Deg freebie, I’ll put full details in that thread.

Yes, seems to be fixed now although I’m still waiting for the email and plan to appear in app (although I’ll be saving it for another trip).

That’s what I like about FLX roam. Just add plans to the existing eSIM. A few providers work that way.

After continuing problems with my Flexiroam plan recently I’m going to give up on them, absent a really extremely good deal. And hopefully their 15% off MC thing as well.

I don’t have the technical smarts to keep troubleshooting the damn thing when it doesn’t work, or when I’ve coughed something up.

Kolet continues to produce the goods and I’m okay with paying a few bucks more if the damn thing works consistently and trouble free.

Just returned from Dubai where I used my first eSIM. Went with Saily which popped up through my NordVPN app so decided to give it a go.

It connected through the DU network in UAE and it was good and no issues at all.

Just wasn't able to receive OTP to my Vodafone Sim but managed without. Tried playing with the settings but couldn't work it out and didn't want to get any outrageous charges.

Something to work on before my next trip.

Yep, I only use them now for the freebie, or when there’s a good Sale, or the MC discount tips a short plan in favour towards them.

I hate the new(ish) app and their revised pricing model that aligned with Airalo which did away with some sweet spots - like 5GB+ 6mth or 12mth plans with 80% or 90% discounts for not many $$s

I’ve only had one “coverage” issue with them but otherwise the service has generally worked well with them. Some countries have been flaky but I think that’s been the country infrastructure!

Yep. I’ve only used the freebie so far and it worked really well in Europe. It also got SYD+1 out of a pickle while FRX got their app sorted!

^this!

I have about 6 “go to” providers with eSIMs installed. I’m quite happy to pick and choose the best deal for my needs and at any one time may have multiple overlapping plans!

One Sim - Regional Plan. It was already installed I just reactivated it. Ease of use suits me.

Has anyone used an E-sim in the Middle East - I have a week in Qatar and Egypt.

My Flexiroam freebie Global Plan worked fine in Doha passing through. It also covers Egypt.

Their “ME & Nth Africa” Regional plans are a little pricey.

Airalo is a lot cheaper but will most likely require installing another eSIM (as would any other provider you currently don’t use). Kolet is a little more expensive.

Not all appear to have a “ME & Nth Africa” Regional option. So it would mean buying two country plans* or going up to a more expensive Global plan.

*any eSIM provider that reuses the same eSIM for all their plans should seamlessly switch between plans as you move around.
