I assume the questions would be identical to the I-94W forms, but would be nice if the next person to register could copy and paste the questions. In saying that, I have not applied and there may be some legal notes in the site that prevent someone from doing this.
I'm happy to put the on for you if you think it will be acceptable? Let me know.

The website for the online form is https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

I have not copied from the form. I have typed the information from the printout created by me when Mr Driver completed the form. If this is not allowed I'm sure the moderators will remove it. Anyone can access and read the form on the internet and areas of the hardcopy form have been written up on the forum previously. The hardcopy form has been available to print from the internet as well. Is there any difference?

Here are just the 'yes' 'no' questions:

Quote:
A) Do you have a communicable disease; physical or mental disorder; or are you a drug abuser or addict?

B) Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude or a violation related to a controlled substance; or have been arrested or convicted for two or more offenses for which the aggregate sentence to confinement was five years or more; or have been a controlled substance trafficker; or are you seeking entry to engage in criminal or immoral activities?

C) Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with naz_ Germany or its allies?

D) Are you seeking to work in the U.S.; or have you been excluded and deported; or been previously removed from the United States or procured or attempted to procure a visa or entry into the U.S. by fraud or misrepresentation?

E) Have you ever detained, retained or withheld custody of a child from a U.S. citizen granted custody of the child?

F) Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa or entry into the U.S. or had a U.S. visa canceled?
If yes: when
where
G) Have you ever asserted immunity from prosecution?

The 'arrested OR convicted' is still very ambiguous mainly because (and as mentioned in another thread) if you are an innocent party involved in a fatal accident (such as being a driver stopped at an intersection when another vehicle runs into you and the driver of the other vehicle dies as a consequence) then ALL PARTIES involved are ARRESTED and conveyed to the nearest hospital for a blood sample drug and alcohol test. Now those innocent parties have been arrested, not convicted or anything, and yet the visa site still asks whether you have been arrested OR charged. I can only assume if you are in the position described above then you would no doubt be approved to enter the USA, but would it be approved when you apply online under these new procedures. (I might indicate that I have never been in this situation)

I would imagine that you would not get an immediate 'Authorization Approved'. I would also imagine that you would be approved - after they looked into it.

And you still have to give an address in the USA as an essential field so unlikely you can fill it out just in case.
Interesting that under carriers they have a list of what must be every airline in the world including Airlines of NSW,Ansett,Compass,Hazelton but not Rex.Airlines of Tasmania is listed.Wonder what the fare is HBA-LAX?

I completed the form yesterday for Mr Driver - immediate authorisation. Printed the completed form with authorisation number although it does say it is not necessary to take the paperwork with you. I'm taking it for him anyway. Very easy and quick to process.

I did this yesterday also. Pretty easy to complete. Didn't print it off but wrote down the Authorisation numbers. Nearly got writer's cramp doing this - they are so long. So now we are authorised to travel to the US but still have to go through the immigration process when we arrive.

And, (until 2009) still need to fill out the I-94W forms prior to landing, the same as every other pax who hasn't gone online and completed the application. I am heading back to USA in a few weeks, and couldn't see the benefit of doing it this trip.

I always stuff up the I - 94 forms when I fill them out. I have a stack in the folder with my passport. I just wanted practice at doing the online thing. With two children living and working in the LOTFAP I guess I'll be going there from time to time.

i just filled out the application for a trip in Sep and while long was simple enough. I printed the application so once I know my hotel I can add it into the application. It lasts 2 years and I think is a good idea. Not too much difference then when I fill in my DFAT smart traveller forms.

Just done mine fr my trip in Sep also. Pretty quick and easy. This is going to make life easier when the paper forms are not required :)

Hi,
Just wondering if anybody used the ESTA with a conviction record! and what the outcome was?

thx

Hi I'm heading to the US next week with Qantas. When checking my booking details for the flight, the Qantas website asks for "Advanced Passenger Information" which I've completed.

Is this sufficient? or do I still need to visit the site and complete the form online?

It's irrelevant that you have entered the API for Qantas, these are (slightly) different creatures.

You will not have to do this for travel next week, although you may if you desire.

It will be mandatory from early January.

I used this for our trip in September.

The annoying part is that you fill in all these details (which i printed and took with me btw) then have to fill in the exact same details by hand on the immigration card anyway.

Typical US of A "efficiency".

It would be better if you could fill in online and then you just present your passport to immigration (as they should have it all electronically!)

I was told by immigration that they aren't taking any notice of on-line registration until it becomes compulsory. So effectively it's a waste of time at this stage.

Visa Waiver Program ESTA application query

Hi

Apologies if this has already been asked and answered but I am on an urgent mission to help someone in the family.

I believe the passport is recent (other party has a new passport application currently being processed) and valid and there is no history of any criminal issues, however, the passage to the USA is an urgent one and hopefully scheduled to happen within the next 6 to 10 days.

My question is, can we complete the online ESTA application without booking carrier and tickets until the application is approved and then use the option on the website to add booked flight details? I understand it is a 3 - 4 day approval process so would like to get this loaded tomorrow, ready for bookings next week.

Going down the road of applying for a Visa may not be an option due to the potential delays, including upto a 10 day waiting list just to get an appointment in Melbourne. This needs to happen very soon.

Can anyone please advise if this ok?

Cheers

Re: Visa Waiver Program ESTA application query

You don't need to have your travel plans finalised:

https://help.cbp.gov/cgi-bin/customs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1098&p_created=1235061137
Yes, you can apply for ESTA even if you do not know your travel date or time for certain. The travel information is optional, and you can leave it blank. If you put in a date and time, and then your plans change, we ask you to correct the information, but you are not required to. Changing your travel plans will not affect your authorization to travel.

If you do not know where you will be staying when you apply for ESTA, that is ok too. You do not have to provide that information when you apply.

If you are transiting the U.S., just put "In Transit" in the field for your address while in the U.S.

Re: Visa Waiver Program ESTA application query

Ive been able to process a date change. but you will need Passport no!

Re: Visa Waiver Program ESTA application query

I got a new passport this year and applied for ESTA the same day I received the passport.

Instant "approval" online, no 6 day wait time, although this may not be the norm.

Don't bother filling in flight details
