Still "on request " at lunch time today - rang and confirmed all is ok. 15 minutes later ticket arrived.

Seats selected on qf and ey- were good to go!

I love that, I swear that once you ring and complain to them, all of a sudden, it tickets magically. I get its a manual queue they use but they are literally just getting someone in Ticketing to press a button to approve the ticket and off it goes to your inbox.

Hey guys,

I am finally flying Apartments SYD-AUH in a few weeks, any suggested seats for a solo traveller ?
I went with 4A as it's forward facing and a window seats... should I switch to something else ?

Cheers

I selected 4A once but was moved because there was someone in the adjoining apartment and it is not as private. I finished up in a forward-facing aisle seat, but it really was not an issue. There is enough room, and no noise.

Stick with 4A or 4K, their the best seats on the plane. Forward facing with three windows that you can see out of. You will enjoy them the most. Have fun!!

Are seats out of SYD to AUH in F still rare? I can't seem to find any 330 days out. Found some from MEL.

Yea, availability from MEL is much better.
Since you get SYD-MEL-SYD connections on QF J it's just a minor inconvenience really.

Sorta a first world question lol but is the seat in 4A the lighter colour or the darker colour ?

Thanks

I thought you couldn't combine QF and EY. Due to the routing rules and EY partnering with VA within AUS.

You actually can, since you are making your booking through AA, so it doesn't matter about QF or VA own partnership.
I've made a booking from ABU-MEL-SYD that way.

Well that sucks, I would have routed through SYD to get the 380 in F instead of J in a A330. Next time.

I feel your pain, but it would need to be good to counter the extra 10 hours flying PER-SYD and then back in our direction again, plus wait overs. And I assume the same on the return leg?

There is no issue combining oneworld and non-oneworld carriers on the same reservation. The issue for us Perth folks is, I believe, the backtracking that would be involved and EY only publishes fares AUH-eastern Australia-PER with VA, which isn't permitted. I suspect AAgents have no issue with something as straight forward (and logical) as AUH-xMEL-SYD.

Doesn't hurt to try, I've pulled it off twice, most recent trip coming up in September goes: OOL-SYD-PER-MEL-AUH-CAI 60K in F

Well I routed through HKG with a 9hr layover just so I could try a direct CX service rather than route through LHR so I'm more than happy to have a large(ish) diversion if it means something new. And I could combine it with a night in Sydney so a 2 4 1 type deal as well.

Yes - I'm currently looking at one of those 9 hour layovers in HK. Enjoy whatever you can get from the system.
