Etihad Status Match - Any Point for Velocity Members?

Anyone have any luck getting into the Etihad F lounge recently as DJ platinum??

They'll probably dispatch a card once you have flown with them. Prob to stop freeloaders or avid FF card collectors

I've already flown with them, albeit just before the match :p It makes a little sense, but it would still be nice to have a physical card on hand upon first flight with status.

I have both - Etihad Guest Silver and DJ Platinum, the Etihad FF before the partnership came into being. I flew VFF Reward flight on Etihad to the UK return, and quoted my DJ Platinum number on the bookings. The checkin agent at LHR said I ought to have used the (lesser status) Silver instead, as Etihad look more favourably upon their own, ahead of the partners, on their own metal. My DJ FF gave me marginally more luggage allowance, as Etihad Silver is three tiers from the top slot (Gold Elite). As I was flying Coral Economy, I could use either card to get into the AUH Business lounges. The LHR lounge is a combined F/J lounge, and very very nice, too, I might add.

Received my card and tags yesterday - apparently posted on 21 June (if the date on the letter can be believed - no postmark). Seems they were dispatched on the slow boat from Abu Dhabi!

I too, was originally advised that my Gold membership credentials with EY were being posted on 21st June, then on the 7th August I received an email from Etihad Guest with a confirmation letter confirming my Gold status, should I need to prove it before the plastic card arrives in the mail - by that stage I was already giving up on it, particularly as I read into it that it could take as long as the end of October to get the card (the letter validity was to 31st October 12). Then to my surprise, just today I received the actual plastic card, together with two baggage tags in the mail - they must have batched the order and sent all of our cards in one go. Anyway, despite the slowness of dispatch, I have the card now and wonder how will it go with Virgin Australia. I'm interested to see the level of recognition they will give me compared to their own Velocity Gold membership. I know EY and DJ/VA are partners but if push comes to shove, I wonder if Velocity member may get better treatment than I. Well, I'll be trying it out in a couple of weeks time ;)

I also got the package today with my cards. Supposedly posted on 21st June.

The card's valid through March 2014.

I applied April this year so it is effectively two, but I'll only have had the card for 18 months or so.

Gold should be two calendar years after application, then the grace period:
