Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

For current card holders, why not just fill the form out and not transfer over your old one? Or just cancel the old one and sign up for the new one so you can still get the 16k points

You would think... Working in marketing and having to dine out frequently with some very very big big wigs, I know that I'd be a little uncomfortable pulling out a supermarket branded CC to pay for a dinner at 44!

Sounds a bit weird & silly but it's a bit of an in joke with our team... :) Like I said, CC snobs!! Would be happy to use in day to day personally.

Ah, looks like a fundamental design flaw. The word "Platinum" is subtle and understated to the point of invisibility, while the WOW EDR logo sticks out like, well, the proverbial. ;)

This looks really good. I've been looking for a replacement for my Virgin Flyer card, as Citibank's customer service makes me want to inflict serious pain on a brick wall.

Will continue to put my Amex MR points into Velocity but this is an offer good enough for me to switch teams to an extent.

The "Platinum" verbiage probably more relates to the higher merchant fees that this card will almost certainly accrue for HSBC/Woolworths to fund the QFF points they're shelling out for.

Still, nice to see a 1:1 ratio on a non-AmEx card. Might look at applying for one! :)

Is that the first Platinum Card not in a Platinum/Grey colour??

I always wonder how many merchants are still on differential Base/Gold/Plat fees - has been a huge migration of cardholders towards the 'premium' end.

The lack of points for the transferees from the EverydayMoney card is a bit of a bummer.

I got the EverydayMoney card for the chip+pin feature (for Euro travels) and because I shop at woolworths (with it earning 2:1 and 3:1) and used the epay fuel bonuses. May well cancel and reapply for the new card (16k / $90 is decent) although only paid my $49 annual fee in September. Maybe hold out until mid-Jan.

With wizard/28degrees going chip+pin I have less long term need for the card, although good to have a points earning visa/mcard.

All my shopping is currently going amex hopskotch way till Xmas as well.

Virgin Flyer cards are denoted as Visa Platinum cards and they're multicoloured :P

The brochure lists the Everyday Money website but a check yesterday showed it was only geared up for applications for the regular card. No phone number listed.

I grabbed a brochure from Big W, didn't see any at Woolworths though.

Spoke to them today at everyday rewards, apparently they only got an email today (the girl even said they were told no one would call yet anyway :() about this card. It is supposed to have an option on the telephone tomorrow and the website updated tomorrow too. We will see. Strange to not tell there staff before producing hundreds of pamphlets???

You'd think it was strange for staff not to know when a new product was launching but ... I worked previously in a big bank dealing with IT systems for the Marketing team, and it wasn't at all uncommon for staff to be told of a new product or offer AFTER it launches! (And now work in a telco in a similar role, and guess what? it's exactly the same!) :o

Very interesting indeed. The current card doesn't appear to have any fee for a secondary card holder. If they can pull that off on the platinum as well then I'm definitely trading in my ANZ Visa for one of these.

My neighbour works at a Safeway store and she has told me that although they received stocks of the brochures last week the were told that they were not to be displayed until next weekend, apparently there is a advertising launch starting after Melbourne Cup day-they apparently want to get people applying for the card and using it in time for christmas purchases.

So subtle that I had not even noticed it

Extra info on the card

On the back of the card there will be a barcode which will be your Everyday Rewards card. So instead of needing your EDR card, you'll just get the operator to scan the back of your EDQF CC and then proceed as normal.

So does that mean I can scan the card like an EDR card and then use my Platinum Amex for 1.5 points/dollar to still pay at the checkout?

That's handy, I've just lost my EDR card :p

Yeah, and try getting another one. You go to the store and they say "you need to go online". You go online and send an email, and they say "just pick up another in store".

Eventually got a new paper temporary card from a store, and then when trying to register it we find the online login has been disabled, even though the password we used we knew was 100% correct. Tried the "forgot password" option and it says the account is locked. After several emails we've eventually got a contact number for them but haven't been able to get through! All we need is the password to be reset ...

They've obviously been taking lessons from Citibank's customer service team in how to make things difficult ;)
