Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

Most credit card companies will not adjust your credit limit upwards for 6 months from a new issue.
One reason I got for not allowing an increase was that my small card use did not justify a change so I was able to fix that but time must pass again.
EDR card is still a beauty for $89 and a point a dollar on everything.

Have you increased or decreased your limit since you received your CC? If not, then you can do either , but after one or the other, they 'lock' it in for 6 months. I decreaed mine and was told l couldn't increase it until 6 months had passed. Why not cash advane and BPAY and yet to get ahead?

Maybe a AMEX branded big 4 card with a higher limit might suit you better? And earn better than 1:1 earning rate. The way l see it, your loosing points by using this card.

Both AMEX and Citi refused to deal with me, I do BPAY into the QEDRCC but it takes too long to clear (up to 4 days) so the cash payments at the store are a simple "top-up" to keep the card within its limit until the BPAY payment clears...

EFTPOS payments are pretty much capped to a $1k per day so this is why I have cash. I also have some customers that still pay me in cash and I always have a few thousand lying around anyway...

Pre-loading this card also works, or at least it seems to have so far for me. I got my limit reduced to more reasonable fuel and groceries levels but occasionally I'll look for a 1:1 earning result with M/C and will stick a few thousand in on top of my limit in advance by bpay which then means I don't need to trek off to Woolies with a pocket full of notes.

But as mentioned before, when you BPAY it takes up to 4 days for the funds to be shown as available credit... Cash or EFTPOS on the other hand is instant :p

Yes, sure. If I intend to use the card for something I know is coming and is out of the ordinary for my use of this card, I'll preload it. 4 days wait in these cases doesn't really matter and saves me going to the bank to get the cash and waddling about with it stuffed in a brown paper bag which I hate.

But my use is different to yours. I've essentially stopped using this card for anything substantial as its a PITA due to the slowness of the backend business. I've had pretty good luck in recent times with co-branded Amex cards and acceptance / no surcharge.

Had to pay some insurances recently which didn't accept Amex at all, surcharge or no, so in this case, having a good months notice, I preloaded the EDRCC, waited a week and then paid up.

Yes. Quite often actually. I suspect its been a tremendously successful card this one and the server farm, large as it doubtless is, seems to be struggling under the strain.

See this is back to offering 16K bonus signon points after that short term drop to 12.5K

#16,000 Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer is available to new primary cardholders who apply between 1 May 2011 and 30 June 2011, are approved and make an eligible purchase on their Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card by 31 August 2011.

I applied for this card online last night. Where it asked for credit limit sought, I left it blank. Let's see how long before i have response and what limit is approved.

Can't use this credit card for a vodafone online recharge....(Prepaid mobile broadband internet) Website reports this card as not being a valid card, however the website accepts Visa / Mastercard...

Spoke to the call center but was clueless... Was going to try the recharge over the phone but could not provide an invoice, so could not use this card... had to revert to a non points card :-(

Anyone else had issues with the acceptance of this card...?

My EDR card has worked everywhere I have tried it.
With Vodaphone the only customers they are not losing would be their contracted ones!
When we went into the south west of WA only Telstra worked properly so our companions had to borrow our mobiles.

I had a few issues using it last year and early this one after first receiving the card.

Many systems did not recognise the 5494 prefix as being valid.

Somewhere online there's mention of "platinum benefits" but that's not saying it's a platinum card.
At the moment, seems there's just one Everyday Rewards card. But is it MasterCard or Visa card?

Only problem I've had was when buying some PC hardware from PCCaseGear - and they wanted some more ID verification, as it came up in their system as a foreign card (?)

According to List of Bank Identification Numbers the prefix 546471 is the only Mastercard prefix in that series that is issued to a non-bank (albeit with HSBC behind it). Maybe that's the issue.

I doubt that is true. GE Money is a non-bank lender, and they issue various mastercards.

According to that list my GE Money issue card is a "Canadian Tire Mastercard". I know that is not true.

I suspect that some of the databases used for verification just aren't up to date.

Last time my card was rejected due to being "not recognised" I scored a $50 gift card.... Hopefully I am going to get another for not being able to use it at vodafone...:p

Well I've had this card now for exactly 6 months... Quite a handy card and have put through just under $50k on the credit card in six months....

Just wish AMEX or Citi liked me, but thats not going to happen since I am self employed... :(

But still, this card along with the EDR barcode & bonus offers from time to time, has earnt me over 76,000 pts in the past six months, not as good as AMEX @ 1.5:$1....but still quite good in my opinion :)
