Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

been actively paying between $3k & $5k at my local Woolworths supermarket store on a daily / weekly basis, still get a kick at seeing such big numbers on the checkout screen, also many customers are amazed to watch the process :D

Makes me wonder, will Woolworths put some limit in place on the amount of cash they will accept at the service desk for safety reasons...? done a +$10k cash payment before which took so L O N G for them to count... all in open view right on the service desk counter...

Never cease to enjoy watching an employee count 30% of their annual wage in cash just paying off my credit debt

Why not pay these large balances off by debit card/eftpos instead of cash?

Does anyone know what the cost is when charging USD amounts to this card (eg. when buying online from US site, from Australian computer)? How does this compare with Amex?

In answering my own question, it's 3% on the EDQRCC, 3% on CBA Mastercard Debit Card and 2% on NAB Visa Debit Card. Haven't got around to check Amex yet.

Just a warning for those who jumped on this card.

I've been sick the last couple of weeks, haven't really gone near a computer. During that time I managed to miss the payment on the card, it's bad enough that I copped the $35 late fee and $250 in interest :o but they also put an automatic block on the card, which meant it was declined when I went to pay for petrol on the weekend, even though there was stacks of credit left on the card. Apparently this is automatic, and is for "security purposes". Yep, whatever.

Yes and if you don't get the card balance into credit they keep hitting you up for interest.Oneworldplus2 posted a how to fix my mistake on the Frequent Flyer Fiend and the Game so you don't get caught a second time.

how long does it take for the bonus points show up at QF?

And it gets worse. Not only did it take 3 days for my BPAY payment to show up on the card, it then takes another 24 hours before they lift the block on the card. Ridiculous, I've never heard of a credit card that does this before. Lucky they have such a good annual fee/earn rate or I'd cancel the card in protest.

I also had a big intrest bill by not paying the full balance off at the end of the month, yes it was 100% my mistake but...... I short paid the balance by a few hundred dollars by accident (too much wine that night perhaps) and bang, $200+ in interest.

I am now in credit as I don't want to pay those firetruckers any more interest, however I do need to soon put my tax bill on this sucker. Anybody know their policy if you don't pay the balance in full, how long do you loose the interest free period...?

The month I messed up I got their message by text then got the card to 4k in credit for the rest of that billing month. There was a further interest charge and then it stopped.I have gone for the auto pay on their site to stop this happening ever again thanks to a post by Oneworldplus2.Basically I missed the 6th,received the text on 12th then put the account into credit on 16th equalled a cost of over $300.......my mistake and cannot happen again due to lodging the auto sweep form.

2 statements paid in full to get back to interest free I believe - check with your bank on increasing your daily eftpos limit too, definetely worth it

Thought this was fixed to $1k and not possible to change...

Getting tired of carrying big money into WW Supermarket just to have an "instant" credit to my account.

Nice card this one but going to complain about a few things next time my $89 fee is due... Hopefully wont have to pay the annual fee next time ;)

to date I have put around $70k - $80k through this card...

Edit: Looks like its off to the supermarket with another bundle of cash ready for tax time...

I also missed a payment on this card and it really annoyed me. I actually paid on time, but their bloomin 3-4 days turnaround caused the problem. this really (really!!) peeved me right off. So I got on the phone and protested very loudly. Got a partial refund of the interest charge and of course, like everyone else has mentioned, lost the interest free period.
I'm sure this strategy must work for them or they wouldn't do it. For those of us here, and other thinking people though, surely the answer to being annoyed in this way is to either cancel the card or simply stop using it for 2 statement periods - until you are eligible for the interest free again?
I chose the latter. They didn't make a cent out of me for 2 months, cant understand how this helped _their_ business, but it worked for me. I used Amex and another card so it didnt bother me one tiny bit.

If you pay down your outstanding balance and prior period interests plus generous estimate of current period accrued interests, don't you reset the clock and gain interest free period again on all standard purchases from next business day onwards after date of confirmation of payment by them?

I assume Wollies dont charge extra to pay by Amex so if shopping at Woolies and have both an Amex 1.5 earn and Everyday rewards credit card linked to (non credit card) Everyday Rewards card, can you pay by Amex to ear 1.5 and then swipe your standard everyday rewards and earn 1x points also?

I also begged for a reduction in interest since I paid interest on the whole amount, not just the unpaid balance. In hindsight I would have been better off just paying the minimum balance, at least that way I would have actually "borrowed" the funds off them.

Anyway I asked the call center what can be done to "clear" the ongoing interest and "gain" back the interest free period.....their answer was silence

So I then suggested that I would be better not using this card for a few months and use my Amex, I bluntly asked is this what QEDRCC want me to do...? Again silence followed by a whimpy "Is there anything else I can help you out with today"

I like this card (points earn) but you need to be really careful if you miss a payment, or in my case, pay interest on $15k for 2 months due to a short payment f_up of around $200

This is quite commonly done by several members here, Although I dont do this since my Amex is only 1:1 earn :(

Edit: Process is to scan your EDR barcode first, then pay with your Amex in the usual way...

Be careful with this. This can be a problem with HSBC (the card issuer). Was this a BPay payment you made? I spoke to HSBC about this when I had an issue on my generic HSBC card account. They didn't really understand. Their BPay agreement forces them to register payments on they day you make them (as long as this is before your own banks daily cut-off time) I emailed off BPay directly and explained the issue. They sorted it out with HSBC and had my payment back dated on my account to the correct day.

If one pays using BPay, then the payment must be deemed to have been made at the date¹ you do so, not after the two to four days it can take to come across.

¹ As long as the payment is made before 6pm (or is it 9pm?) on a business day
