Now I am feeling like the odd one out by not having received an offer. I did pay part of a personal tax bill on it the other day so I should get 20,130 points into QF shortly for doing that phone call.I must go to Woolies sometime!

I don't think it makes any difference. I go, then don't go, use woolies fuel, use the EDR card where I can and the CC too, but no offers for me. I suspect some complex maths is behind this and the system targets what the maths is telling them are their preferred customers ... I must simply not be one of those lucky ones.

Maybe it has something to do with signing up for a deal and then not redeeming it.

I've only got one bonus email ever, activated all the bonus but didn't get around to woolorths that weekend. Haven't got another one since.

at 30% increase you must truly be "an exceptional great customer" if I'm just "great" lol

29.6% to be precise. Original limit was around 16% of annual income which I thought was reasonable given the aggregated credit limits on my other cards. This card is very handy but is only a backup to my Amex cards. The only interest I've paid was about $1.50 due to a lottery purchase being treated as a cash advance. (Lesson learned - they get laundered through PayPal now.)

Richard.

Similarly here, in my case though a 30% increase. I've never got near to exhausting my current limit but I'm the sort who likes the convenience of a large limit for the odd occasion it is needed.

I do wonder why they couldn't include the letter in with my monthly statement - that arrived in a separate envelope in the same post.

Richard.

Same for me. You would think that they would put the increase letter in with the statement.

Hey All,

Had a look through this thread but I couldn't find my situation put forward.

If I earn under $50k ($41k) is the likelihood of being accepted for this card very low?

I would love to be able to earn the 1:1 ratio on a card that is accepted pretty well everywhere.

Does anybody have the answer to my question?

Many thanks!

I suspect that your best bet is to apply and find out. Ultimately, I suspect that, HSBC will be concerned that you can pay back whatever you spend and will set the credit limit accordingly.

Well given that Westpac were too tight handed compared to ANZ (WBC obviously does not want my business whereas ANZ do), I am not liking my odds.

Getting any details from the call centre staff is impossible and they just throw lines like "We will consider any savings or investments that you have...." and the like.

I hope I can get it as that would be highly advantageous (as I am sure many a AFF/QFF member can testify).

Apologies if this has been answered before, Shrek would like to be an additional cardholder on my account. Is this done online ( I have long since forgot my log in) or snail mail ?

Basically they assess your ability to use and pay. How many other monthly payments you have on your whole situation rather than a particular gross income. You could call them to avoid a rejection being recorded on your credit file.

So does calling and applying over the phone mean you go through their internal checks before a credit check?

If so that would be great!

I asked them that also and the operator I spoke to did not quite understand what I was getting at.

I would say no chance sorry...

Before you apply:Before you start your application for a Woolworths Everyday Rewards Qantas credit card, please ensure you can answer YES to the following:
  • You earn more than $50,000 per annum (before tax)
  • You are at least 18 years of age and have a good credit rating

I would say no chance sorry...

See that is what I thought but then the phone operator said "We take all of your situation into account, not just your income"

They stopped short of saying that it was not a hard and fast $50k limit... So that Is why I have come to those who are well versed in these matters...the great AFF community!

If you have other credit cards you could get them to zero balance at the time of your application so your figures are the best they can be. That would give you your best chance of getting to YES. No more phone calls and a strong application.

Well as of COB Monday I will have only 1 CC with a $0 balance.

And as suggested apply over the phone to prevent harm to credit file?

Problem is that no one here can answer your specific case. You'll only find out after applying. I found this one an oddball. I had to take my ID to a Woolworths store and the credit limit given to me was, let me search for the words, mmmm......ah yes, absolutely rubbish.

It took three weeks to get the card. At the same time Amex took less than a week to send me the Platinum charge Card. Even now my new Woolworths credit limit is half of what I spend on my Amex a month. The last time I carried a balance on a credit card was 2005. So I guess I'm saying "who knows".

You can download the form online, and then mail or fax it.

Well I wasn't expecting a stellar limit on the card.

As it is I want to ditch the ANZ FF and replace it with the WOW card, along with the fee-free AmEx Qantas card.

I don't really mind how long it takes to get the card as I have the ANZ to continue with for now.

Many thanks for your advice.

I added Mrs Shintaro as a second card holder to my account. I simply printed out the form from the website, faxed it through, Mrs Shintaro had to go to Woolies with some photo ID, then about a week later the new card arrived. Whole process took 3 weeks.

Nice having someone else earning points to your QFF account... :p

Here is the form you need: - View attachment 3227

Just go for it on line now you are a stronger applicant!

Many thanks for your kind words cove but I do not know how strong of an applicant I am to them.

I will have a think about it and do some creative accounting perhaps (not lies at all, just counting future income - not against any rules is it?)

Perhaps COB Mon would be better as I can then truthfully say some figures compared to others.

Once again many thanks.

I will advise how I go in due course.
