Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

Thank you to JohnK and other members who have shared their observations of how Woolworths dollars work in relation to targeted offers. I was successful today in confirming the observations.

I had an offer of $10 Woolworths dollars for getting $40 worth of stuff from Woolworths. I also had $10 sitting on my Woolworths Rewards account from a previous targeted offer.

I got $40.72 worth of groceries today. On the receipt in bold print (much darker than the normal black print) were the words SUBTOTAL $40.72. Underneath this in the normal black print was MEMBER REWARDS -$10.00. After this appeared my normal payment methods for the remaining $30.72 balance of the transaction.

On the checkout register screen it said I had earned over $10.00 of Woolworths dollars for this transaction. This was confirmed later down the receipt. The $10 Woolworths dollars I earned today are also showing in my account with a notation saying that $10 will come off my next shopping trip.

My interpretation of this is that the Woolworths dollars are being used as a payment method. I qualified for the targeted offer without having to get an extra $10 worth of stuff in order to compensate for the Woolworths dollars already loaded on my account. The SUBTOTAL notation appears to be the amount which Woolworths are using to calculate the status of the targeted offer. The same will also probably work for the general offers going round such as the barcode on the current catalogue and the barcode emails which have been sent out with the same deal.

I have no idea whether I'll get any QFF points for the above transaction. It's difficult to figure things out with the QFF points at the moment as the WWR account only shows the transfer in bulk. As I have very few transactions with QFF points on them I should be able to break things down and report back regarding how many points were gained on this transaction.

I would suggest it's done on purpose as a way of limiting the number of $10 off amounts given out.

Actually done for multiple purposes:
  1. Limits cost of offer
  2. Encourages/forces people to look through the catalogues or emails
  3. Provides a direct measure of efffectiveness of marketing method used as offer take-up is dependent on bar code being provided.

Case-in-point - during the WoW FC 10% off offer (no bar code required) there was also a spend $100 or more get $10 off using bar code.

Now you got email and equired to print out bar code or get it from catalogue. However many areas do not get catalogues delivered and stores normally can get as few as 50.

BUT email said if no printer don't worry just pick up a catalogue.

Went to local WoW and asked for catalogue to get the bar code.
..."we've run out."
OK, where's your service copy?
..."Someone's taken it."
So print a bar code off then.
..."Don't have a printer."
Can I see the duty manager please...

You get the picture.

As most of the Big W 'subscriptions' were unsubscribed last week - we received offers of FREE CHOCOLATE to go into Big W this week oh, and by the way, subscribe to the newsletter (hidden until 3rd click!).

So much for honesty - no subscribe = no chocolate

This came through via CashRewards:

Woolworths Rewards is a joke. Bought 2 slabs of Beer at BWS and now they telling me no Itchy and scratchy money or points because for some reason my card didn't scan. I have had enough of their reward program.

If this was Flybuys, they wouldn't give me excuses but rather give the reward and points as long as I provided the receipt.

Sorry if this has already been asked or is in another thread, but is there any way of 'hoarding' WWD? I've got about $15 sitting on my card at the moment and interested in keeping them until points conversion is available (if possible). Thanks!

If you spend over $10 at Woolworths or BWS then $10 will come of your balance of WWD.

The only way to keep the balance on your card is to make transactions of less than $10 or not use the card at all.

All quiet this week? Everyone off for Christmas?

Most of the offers which are around this week are continuations of offers from last week. I got $20 off my $50 shop today as week 3 offer on one of our cards. The checkout operator was very surprised and wanted to know how I got such a good offer. Later in the week I'll be getting $10 Woolworths dollars for spending $40 as part of week 2 of my offer.

The person at the service desk was similarly surprised when $50 came of my shop from last weeks targeted spend offer. Delaying Christmas food shop till tomorrow when next cycle starts

Interesting but there may be a way. I did my shop online this week and I had $40 WWD's. I had the option to use or pay the full price so maybe if you don't mind online then thats the way to keep accumulating

Mrs Bodie got the same offer, $20 off with $50 spend so that will help with our reg shop. Due getting some supplies for work xmas food night managed to get to $40 dollars and get $15 off the other day. Dont know if it triggered the 2nd offer due to first being completed. Due to using my card most other times havent had a good offer in while, so might use Mrd Bodie card til I can trigger my own.

And $5 added to my Woolworths peso amount as per the text from the email below.

We’ve made a list and checked it twice, and you’re definitely on it. But for someone who often shops and scans, you haven’t earned quite as many Woolworths Dollars as we’d like. So we’ve added a bonus^ $5 Woolworths Dollars to your balance, which brings your balance to more than $10 Woolworths Dollars. Happy holidays!

^Bonus amount $5 Woolworths Dollars has been automatically added to your balance. There is no minimum spend threshold required to receive the top up.

Mrs Warks got an offer of $45 off if she spent $300 (which is about our weekly shop) for two weeks but her friend got the same offer ($45) for only $275 spend. Work that out.

I have not scanned a card in WOW for months or maybe years. Just got this : Sunday 27 December, spend $50 or more* in one shop, and you'll instantly save $20.

I destroyed the old rewards card and only have the new unused one. Would I still get QF points on that? ($20 off a $50 spend looks OK).

Bar codes for the old and new Woolies cards are the same. QFF points available until the end of the year.

Hang on, are these real AUD dollars or the play money I read about ... spend $50 or more* in one shop, and you'll instantly save $20.

Thanks DrR.
