Listening to the link - there was no reference to Business class in the Audio ...

It was in the AFR yesterday that QR have removed business class for Qantas staff, but they still get economy:

Thanks ... rubs more salt into the wound ...

So after I assume a long period of service, one can still access QF staff travel after they resign?

Have to be pretty lucky or on a pretty obscure route to get ID to clear in J at the moment anyway …. Can’t imagine it will be much of a loss for most QF travellers
As some who can use staff travel, it is nil loss to me.

Yes if it’s in your employment contract. In my case it was after 20 years of service. However former staff have lower priority than those in current service. So you are further down the pecking order. I haven’t used staff travel since the day I left, but I still regard it as something I could fall back on in if I was stuck somewhere.

For me, travel today is stressful enough, particularly from Australia with the long distances involved and in many cases an intermediate stop which could see a staff passenger offloaded if the onward sector is full. I want to go to the airport on the day I choose and sit in the seat I selected and hopefully arrive when I’m supposed to.
Having said that, on the occasions when staff travel works smoothly, it’s a wonderful perk.

Hello
I'm a Qantas staff member beneficiary (Parent).
Are FF and Status points accrued when I book through the staff travel website?
cheers

Benefits were reciprocal anyway. They lose any QF J now too.

They lose the rights, sure, but no QR staff ever got upgraded while traveling on QF staff travel (or very few). With how QF commercial upgrades work (i.e., at the gate) it's notoriously hard for ID90 travellers to get an upgrade these days.

Right so, QR's logic is, the govt is not 'playing fair', so lets upset other people in the same industry as us, where we don't make any money out of them, to get them on our side and to try and change the governments mind?

Aren't QF and QR oneworld? Shouldn't they have targeted say perks given to Virgin Staff?

Maybe a better thing to do would be to guarantee QF staff one J seat on every QR flight?

Not how staff travel works - it's always based on airline seniority / job role, and only when there are seats available. Paying passengers always get priority over staff, so at the end of the day if all seats are sold to paying passengers, no seats will be "given" to staff.

Given how expensive passenger fees at MEL/SYD I suspect that QF DOM ID90 isn’t exactly 10% of average ticket price, airport fees are payable on top of this? Do you guys have any rough example how much these actually are? Just on a high level maybe?

Raises the question. How much is an average ticket from Sydney to Melbourne.

Would you assume AU$300 for a ticket? Or are you booking more than a week from now and could take a flight for AU$200? (I've rounded up to include credit card charges, bags, etc)

I believe ID90 is of a full Y ticket. So probably grand final of the AFL and you could probably say it is 90% off.
