What's that you say? Why would anybody take up an offer of FREE Express Cards when you can go on the 'MEL is Worst Airport in World' thread and nick and cough about delays at security and immigration? Beats me - I don't get it!

Mind you, as I've posted elsewhere, MEL is my home port and I am there often. Over many years, I think I can recall one serious delay on arrival, and not one on departure. Admittedly, I do use the Express Lane for Departures but have not used one in ages for Arrivals. The kiosks never have a line, in my experience, and there never seems to be more than one person ahead of me for the automated gates.
I suppose it helps to be in the early group off the plane - but isn't that most of us here?

Now I wasn't sure in which thread to post this but it does involve the usage of Express Arrival Cards so I will do it here.

Is my memory correct on the matter of Customs and Immigration being rolled into one Department called Border Control or some such name?

I find it somewhat interesting that last couple of times I have arrived back into Oz there was an onboard announcement that there will be delay in baggage arriving at carousel due to Australian Government requirement that all cargo holds must be sprayed with an approved spray to eradicate any bugs that might have hitched a ride - these bugs must have just been created cause I have never seen or heard of this before.

And now after collecting baggage and attempting to exit arrivals hall we now have 2 exit lines - 1 for non Express Cardholders and 1 for Express Cardholders - and they were actually collecting Express Cards at this point thus requirement for extra staff to direct pax this way / that way - never ever seen this before either.

And what is it with the Ebola Cards - I continually fill these out and nobody collects them.

Now far be it for me to be sceptical but this kinda smells of public servants creating extra work / jobs / positions to ensure ongoing work for labour that may not otherwise be required - but they are clearly missing out on a few more positions by not collecting Ebola cards.

Sorry - silly aren't I - this would just never occur in the public service now would it?

Gave a QF express arrival card to a relative travelling D7 into Syd...he got a lecture that he can't use it if not travelling on QF by the immigration officer and had said card torn up in front of him. ..unbelievable! People who have boring jobs throwing their weight around. ..

If you use the egate on arrival it asks you the ebola questions so it's not collected. If you see an immigration in the manual queue they collect it as i understand it.

Oh and if there are any express cards left im happy to take them off anyones hands. Im flying QF mid next month with a friend. Either in or out would be a great help.

Pretty sure I have a couple of QF cards at home, don't remember if they are exit/entry but let me check tonight and I'll let you know.

Used egate yesterday. The only question is asked was if I had visited Africa etc in the last 21 days.

arent most of those places in Africa. So if you hadnt been to Africa the rest of the form is irrelevant

Sdtravel. I have 2 x Virgin express cards (they work for both arrivals & departures) and 2 x QF Inwards cards so PM me your postal address and I can pop them in the mail today.
