I just tried booking SYD > MEL for this November using the Express Pay feature on the site. When I accept the terms and conditions and click book, I'm redirected back to the select fare page. I did this a couple of times before I gave up. Now when I check my QF account the flight shows up as being booked. However, when checking my credit and debit cards, the transaction hasn't posted yet.

Any idea what's going on and what I should do next?

The express pay creates a booking as soon as you click on it. If the payment didn't go through the booking will disappear soon. Did you receive your e-ticket by email?
 
No email arrived and sure enough a couple hours later the booking disappeared. In addition, I noticed that there was no payment method no file for my QF profile. Went back and booked today using (Normal) pay and that worked properly.
