Fake status - buying QF bag tags online

Clearly I have the same problem. I am always having to have mine scanned. I can't remember the last time it wasn't. I posted about this a few weeks ago. Yet MrP never has. I just wonder if it's a female thing then?
There have been times I have been too busy chatting to the staff and have forgotten to get my card out - and have been waved in.

And one might ask why do some people keep an old tag on a bag when they failed to re-qualify for the status level of the tag?

Because they have better things to do with their time? Way too much overthinking happening with these tags. I barely change my handbag from year to year let alone fret about a bag tag on luggage.

My goodness , she's a clever one, at school already! :-)
She's clever but her dad's more cleverer.

Daughter may need around 17 years of schooling if she finishes school and goes to university. I'm not going to work that long. ;) Madly saving school fees now into a trust fund.

White looks the cheapest - so why anyone would bother is beyond me.

I used to use them but don't bother anymore. Partly just unnecessary and partly after twice going through CNS and the agents specifically still put the paper tags on, with the second one telling me too many bags got lost so they do not use. This was a few years ago, to be fair.
I fly in and out of CNS fortnightly. Just a few weeks ago they told me they 'don't have the scanners' for the Q tags :/

Imma put my tags on eBay now!

Had mine scanned at the entrance to the BNE J lounge twice in the last couple of weeks. Maybe I don't look honest

Maybe is a Brisbane thing?

According to my travel map I flew out of BNE 167 times in the last few years yet I had to show my phone (I always walk in showing my boarding pass on the QF app) or scan my card 99% of the times.

A couple of weeks ago I guest my +1 into Bne J lounge and we were just waved through, and she wasn't even flying!

Don't think it's a Brisbane thing. I'm flying ex-BNE on weekly basis, always showing my card, not being asked to scan it or show boarding pass. Same experience I'm having all over the country. Last time I was asked to scan was few years ago it ADL when they cracked down on VA flyers using the QF lounge.

I know a couple of people that have bought them and it was for couple of reasons. 1: They attach it to their carry on so that when they use the priority security lane, no one asks any questions. 2: They use priority boarding and if asked about their status they point to their bag tag and say they forgot to link their booking with their FF account.

Haha, like the Qantas priority boarding queue is going to provide any advantage over the normal queue.

Because they don't send you tags for the lower level when you drop.

This is sick or sad. How insecure or insignificant must this person be to purchase status to impress others? There are more important things in life.

i am ashamed, sort of, to admit to leaving my Platinum tags on my baggage even after i slipped down down to bronze when i retired from my "lots of air miles" job. Ego? yes, possibly. Sadness? yes, possible, especially when the cattle class keeper throws our lunch biscuit at us.

while on hold waiting for a JQ rep, I amused myself by going into Ebay. $190.00 for 4 QF gold baggage tags, and $114.00 for 4 silver QF baggage tags. Flabbergasted!
