Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

I regularly say to samh004 "why do we have to fly? I hate planes" today I find out why we should fly instead of drive. No regrets about pretty much running off the plane to catch up to him for this moment. Not a bad first post either ;)
Now you've had quite a memorable weekend all round - got engaged and met 2 famous people in 3 days (jb747 was first).

My first time ever flying business class (Gold Coast to Sydney) I saw Geoff Huegill (this was November 2012). Ironically, I recognised him as a sportsperson but wasn't sure exactly who it was (I'm not exactly a sports fan), but then the magazine I was reading had a picture of him in it.

Flying LA to Sydney in August last year Harrison Craig (winner of the second season of the Voice) was in premium economy. Kept to himself on the flight but very sweet to fans in the departure lounge before getting on the plane.

Saw quite a few ambassadorial staff and trade Ministers at the SOTP over the weekend-it was where the TPP was being discussed. We were the only non-Japanese guests on our floor.
Mr.berry was one I recognise, though I cant be sure which day I saw him.

Matt Groening (The Simpsons) on a flight from JFK to LAX
Tendulkar MEL to PER
Paul Daniels & Debbie McGee MEL to AKL

Although I know Matt Groening by name I wouldn't know him if I tripped over him. As for the others... I have no idea who they are. I must live a boring life.... :)

Yotam Ottolenghi.

Flying QF BNE-MEL yesterday in J.

Although I had no idea he was a famous vegetarian chef and writer until I saw him on a TV interview this morning.

He ordered the chicken caesar salad...

In his book "Jerusalem" there are plenty of meat options. (I can't vouch for his books Plenty, Plenty More and Ottolenghi b/c I don't own those.) I always knew him as a chef not as a vegetarian chef.

I didn't know him at all! I was just going by what the TV interview covered.

But over on wikipedia it does say:
He is also known for being the champion of vegetables at the same time as eating and loving meat. 'The man who sexed up vegetables

Author of “The New Vegetarian” column in the Guardian magazine from 1996 to 2010

..and more.

He definitely has many vegetarian options in the book "Jerusalem" and some of the meat recipes can be converted to vegetarian.

not in the least a fan of Mr Preston, but if I see you at an airport Chicka I'll be racing along and asking to have my photo taken with you.

(kudos to him for obviously being so gracious to a fan, you must be thrilled)

Not exactly flying or lounging I suppose, but I'm having dinner in the Smooth Curry Restaurant in Bangkok and Rob Sitch (d-Generation, Frontline, Hollowmen etc) is at the next table

That reminds me that Rob Sitch, Jane Kennedy and a small gaggle of kids were on our MEL-AUH flight on EY mid last year. All in Y as we were we.

I'm 95% sure I spotted Tom Gleisner sitting across from us at Lyrebird (restaurant) QPAC last Thursday - we were there for The Lion King.

Kate Winslett (plus partner and child) in Dubai F lounge a few weeks back. Was 1am. Was sitting with us ordinary folk near the gate but they opened up a private or kids room for her after a little while.

Must've been hubby no. 3 Ned Rocknroll & their son Bear Blaze Winslet. They met when she was staying on Necker Island in the Caribbean a guest of his uncle Sir Richard Branson. During their stay the house caught fire & Kate apparently carried SRB's mother out of the burning house. Obviously sparks of another kind flew also.....wonder if the kid's middle name is courtesy of that event?
