Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Just as well they weren't trying to access to QP at T3. Given that there are usually some ex All Black players who play for Tonga and Samoa they could've protested by doing a Haka to the lounge dragons.

It was likely to be the League rather than Union team-suspect they still have a haka up their sleeves like most of the Pacific nations

Ex-GEN Morrison, Aus of the Year, on QF MEL-CBR this evening.

I'm sure leaving his boarding pass sticking up in the seat-back pocket for others to notice was accidental rather than DYKWIA, but no one said anything to him.

A lot of current and ex military are fairly unhappy he was awarded the AOTY title due to his stance on veterans while Chief Of Army (among other things).

They sure are - I know several and they are far from complimentary about him.

Saw Bill Shorten at the LST QP last night (Sunday, 8th May) and again on board QF 2286 to MEL. He was almost the last person to board the plane and everyone on board saw him as he sat down in seat 2D (the exit row window seat on the Q400).
Spooky. I was in the lounge that afternoon and I was in 3D on that flight. I was the last to board.

I didn't take too much notice but the FA commented to them that was a short visit. Did they just do a short turnaround or arrive earlier in the day?

I really should pay attention. RickyT84 I have met you before but didn't recognise you in the lounge. I was sitting at the back near the 2 computer desks.

Many in the army would be less complimentary and say he would be quite DYKWIA

Anthony Bourdain in The Pier HKG.

A famous American actor in Bryant Park NYC. Maybe I'll remember his name next time I see him in a movie. ;)

Ian Thorpe in the SYD J lounge on Saturday afternoon. Staff were swooning over him. Got a heap of pasta and bread and retreated to the semi-private area behind reception.

I wonder if he was ever CL at some point?
It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I have my doubts. QF want popular folk to be seen in their lounges. CL politicians, humble bureaucrats and CEOs are hidden away out of sight - where they belong (bureaucrats by choice, politicians less so)!

About 5 years ago I was just finishing breakfast in the SYD F lounge when Ian Thorpe came and sat at the next table and ordered the exact same thing - healthy stuff. The staff pretty much ignored him and kept chatting to me about their new puppy.

Since Bourdain was just mentioned this popped up on facebook and I couldn't help thinking of this thread. I think he might be the clubhouse leader with this one

The entire Richmont footie team was in Perth Virgin lounge one night after thrashing the Dockers one night. On a separate occasion the Dockers wer on my flight home from Sydney one night, some were in business some front of economy, Fyfe sat in front of me in business - my colleague a major major fan, so I happened to grab his autograph on the only thing I could find to write on- A VIRGIN BUSINESS CLASS MENU - Hahaha - needless to say my colleague was very excited lol!

All the talk of Thorpie in retirement makes me feel old. I can recall when he first came to prominence after some major swim meet where he set all sorts of records as a teen, I was flying back from Brisbane to Sydney and noted a very tall young bloke in the front row of Y. It was only when I saw him pull down his official swim team bag and I saw the size of his feet that I realised who it was. This would have been about 1998 perhaps?
