Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Since Bourdain was just mentioned this popped up on facebook and I couldn't help thinking of this thread. I think he might be the clubhouse leader with this one

This reminds me of the pic of the TPOTUS in a Wendy's fast food outlet in DC, shortly after they tried to convince their people that the CIA should be able to tap into their private phone calls. Obama was talking with a young 8 year old boy whilst they both enjoyed waffles and ice cream. The boy said to the Pres - 'my dad tells me you want to listen in on our phone calls'. The Pres leans over and whispers in the boys ear - 'he's not your dad!'

Spooky. I was in the lounge that afternoon and I was in 3D on that flight. I was the last to board.

I didn't take too much notice but the FA commented to them that was a short visit. Did they just do a short turnaround or arrive earlier in the day?

I really should pay attention. RickyT84 I have met you before but didn't recognise you in the lounge. I was sitting at the back near the 2 computer desks.

Sorry JohnK I didn't know you were in the lounge (and on the same flight). I was sitting near the window next to the food area. The best seat they could offer me on that flight was 8D.

I believe Mr Shorten was there to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the rescue of the two miners trapped in the Beaconsfield mine (on 9th May 2006).

Saw Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in the QF LAX FLounge last Thurs night. I expected they would be on QF12 with me (well, along with me, I was in Y+!), but an FA told me on arrival they weren't on-board. Guess they went somewhere else.

They went to LHR and FCO for their wedding anniversary :)
(I'm sure you really wanted to know that  )

Some recent people (if you can call them famous).

Jacquie Lambie on Syd to Cbr

James Roberts checking in for regional QF flight (Broncos player)

Martin Ferguson on Syd to Mel (sitting in Y). Surprised at that one.

Richard Branson in the Sydney VA lounge today

Where is Branson supposed to be based?

He had a home on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands until it burned down but I imagine he probably has a couple of homes elsewhere around the world too.

Probably off to Makepeace Island on the Noosa River, if the timing was right for the next SYD/MCY flight. Otherwise could have been going anywhere for Virgin-related business. Have been up the river in a boat past it, but not much was viewable. Will have to see if I took any photos...

I am guessing we are going to see more political figures in lounges for the next month

Shane Webcke rugby league ex QLDer. Won a competition for flights/hotel/game tickets to state of origin game 1 in Sydney. The plane was chartered VA 737

The Canadian Ice Hockey team were on QF613 this morning and received very special welcome from the pilot who is apparently also Canadian and huge fan.

I should probably thank them for filling up the Y cabin and helping me get a surprising op-up :D

Maggie Beer in J domestic the other night. Caused the cabin crew some consternation the food wouldn't be up to par. We could see her enjoying the barramundi and the FA told us she had eaten it all. We were stuck on the tarmac for ages and he was worried it was overcooked. And I think she had two serves of the 'sticky date' pudding.

I found this photo which was taken several years ago. Whilst not flying or lounging all concerned are interested in aviation.

Chuck Yeager is one of the most interesting people I have spoken to. His account of dogfights during WW2 was fantastic General Chuck Yeager | The Official Website

Definitely a post worthy of this thread! I read his autobiography after seeing the 'The Right Stuff' (in which he played a cameo). Great that you got to meet him.

Was this the SYD-ADL flight on Thurs night? I was on that one too!
