Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Saw Tony Squires or his double hanging around one of the VA gates in SYD T2 this afternoon. Has he lost weight?

Saw the story in Brisbane of T-Swizzle's visit to the Cilento kiddies' hospital in Brisbane. She apparently spent four hours there with the sick kiddies - that's a bit more than your usual media story of the five minute photo op. Later I realised I could see the hospital from my hotel window last night but couldn't hear the wild cheers of the fans.

Richard Wilkins just walked into the BA Concorde Room at LHR. He said to the lounge host "Are Qantas Chairmans Lounge members allowed in here?" I didn't hear the response from the host but within a second he was in. I'm quite surprised CL members are allowed in the Concorde Room.

Now some more. There was a very minor argument/disagreement with another BA agent (probably more senior). All I heard was "The problem with Emirates is . . ." It sounds to me as though some kind of an exception was made. He then escorted in a young man, presumably his son.

I'm more surprised that he is CL?

Seriously! Probably did an ad campaign....

oh! hang on, he did voiceovers....grrr! plonk!

I read his autobiography a few years ago and he goes into a fair bit of detail in it about his QF perks. From memory it was due to at the time having to jet to LA and London for work on a weekly basis. Didn't take long to work his way up the foodchain.

Marcia Hines in the MEL VA lounge this morning.
Had a quick conversation at the toastie machine, she even made room for my sandwich and looked after it while I ducked off to order a coffee ;)

Saw former Australian basketballer Michele Timms at the Starbucks in PEK T3 this morning in her current role as assistant coach for the Chinese national women's team, along with some of the Chinese team.

Here's a couple for y'all. In the SYD F Lounge yesterday morning, I saw Bruce McAvaney with his wife, setting up for breakfast, and then Iggy Azalea along with her minders in one of the meeting rooms off to the side towards the library zone...

Bruce McAvaney . The year before the Beijing Olympics he was staying at the Langham Place in Hong Kong doing some preliminary research. My elderly mother and I were staying there too. She cornered him in the way that elderly mothers do, having a 'nice little chat'. He was so nice he stayed chatting for such a long time. During which time I'd escaped. :o

For all you metal heads out there....

David Mustaine, lead singer of Megadeth and original member of Metallica on LA631 in J , LIM-SCL (plus security entourage). As well as a couple of other band members. Rest of the crew in Y, apart from one session muso who broke his foot in Lima. Told me that he got upgraded by tour management.

(P.S.- I had no idea who he was either?? Lol, had to ask the crew, even then had to google him )

Edit: Also in LATAM VIP lounge, Basil Zempilas (Ch. 7 sports reporter) doing Radio interview , on the way to Rio. Plus contingent of AFP senior officers going the same way. Overhearing the discussion on security concerns and the shifts they have. Get the impression, this is a last minute assignment?

QF 421 SYD-MEL This morning. They both looked lovely... Lumley in particular was really well made up - just like you'd see her on TV, which leads me to think they were on Sunrise or whatever this morning before flying to MEL.

They were boarded last and sat in 1D and 1F. There seemed to be another young English woman who sat in 2F - a minder perhaps? She was talking about famous Brits with the guy next to her before takeoff, but I tried not to eavesdrop.
