Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

RdeC is famous in these parts so much so he gets his own abbreviations.

Vest I should have done was "RdeC (QF32)" he is famous but not a celebrity. I don't do celebrities.

My google outcomes do no show the WP that we know. Anything on the second page I don't look at

DeCrespigny. Pilot. I think. :o

Richard DeCrespigny was pilot-in-charge onboard A380 VH-OQA "Nancy-Bird Walton" flying QF32 when it suffered an uncontained engine failure after departing SIN. Whilst there were four other pilots on board (two were Check Captains) and all played pivotal roles in bringing the damaged plane back to a safe landing at SIN, Richard DeCrespigny was pilot-in-charge and received most of the accolades and eventually wrote a book on the incident entitled "QF32".

As Dr Ron said, it was the not in Qantas livery that was the dead giveaway as to which RdeC he was.

Actually googling:

'WP australian frequent flyer abbreviation' gets you this as hit number 2:

WP = Wanker Platinum

But 'RdeC australian frequent flyer abbreviation' gets you nothing relevant. So I assume it is a very uncommon abbreviation.
I'm thrilled to see I'm so famous :D :p. My name was made by thadocta in his inimitable style

I got the cryptic clues straight away but then again, straitman was talking about him this week with me.

A couple of years ago, with hubby and the 2 youngest spuds 17 and 20 at the time, we were in a domestic terminal at LAX. I came out of the dunny and stood there trying to find the family. I was standing next to this bloke and my boys were apoplectic with joy as they thought I was talking to this bloke. They said "mum, mum that's Will.I.Am." At that stage I had no idea who this bloke was and why his name couldn't have been standard vanilla William.

Haha keep it coming folks hit me with it

I knew who you were talking about ;)

James Corden & family (plus airport host) seen at LAX last year. It wasn't especially busy and no members of the public approached him, but in future celebrities/VIPs will be isolated from the great unwashed:-

As anyone who has ever watched TMZ or clicked on a YouTube video of a celebrity arriving at LAX has seen, it is obvious that the airport, as it currently exists, has a celebrity problem. This is not just an issue for the over-inflated egos of VIP travelers; it is an irritation for other, less gilded flyers, and it can be an enormous headache for airport-security teams. Massive crowds of closely packed, emotionally agitated fans and photographers do not always make for safe public gatherings. The Private Suite at LAX aims to sidestep all this by literally removing VIP travelers from the equation.

The Private Suite is located three miles away from the main terminals, although it is still within the confines of the airfield. Accessed via the Imperial Freeway, it poses almost no traffic concerns and benefits from a location that makes paparazzi photography—not to mention sniper fire—effectively impossible. Travelers need not be flying a private aircraft to use the new terminal; they can be escorted from the security and comfort of their suite, directly to a commercial jet. Even their TSA inspection will take place in private. De Becker was inspired, at least in part, by the Windsor Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport, another VIP terminal where the cost of access currently hovers around $4,000 per person per flight. Many of de Becker’s existing clients already use the Windsor Suite, he explained to me, and it seemed like a no-brainer to try something similar in Los Angeles.

Great link Strategic Aviation. There will always be two groups - those that want to "fly under the radar" and those that want to keep their adoring fans clicking on their content and watching their reality shows adn who know the paps are a necessary evil to further their "reach".

I'm sure some of us have seen the Windsor Suite on the various TV programs that were shot at Heathrow. $4K per pax - small change for those seriously wealthy that want their privacy maintained.

It'd be tempting to assume that celebrities using the public terminals instead of the future Private Suite are attention-seekers, but given the potential cost perhaps they're just being sensitive with money!

Like Jason Derulo :)

Pretty rare that you'd regard spotting a pilot in an airport as special!!
