Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

My very first visit to a lounge was as a 16 year old in the 80's with my friend and his dad...I obviously didnt fly much at that age and was amazed that I could have "free" coke and lollies.
My friends dad said "That's Dame Edna over there"...I knew who she was and looked for a lady with purple hair, but all I saw was an old man drinking coffee by himself...Barry Humphries.

Since then I have seen some cricketers and footballers, a few Big Brother types, a politician or two but nobody I would rate as proper "famous".

It’s funny you thought of Barry Humphries as old in the 80s He was probably not much older than you are now. 😂

I obviously don’t get out enough…. Celebrities don’t rate all that highly with me in any event.
Dylan Alcott is not a “celebrity”, he is the 2022 Australian of the Year. That might be considered as being famous. This thread title does not refer to “celebrities“, who I agree are often just DYKWIA types in their own minds and definitely not worth mentioning.

Hmmm, at what stage is their “stardom” worthy? Some go on to be influencers, leveraging off their Instagram followers from the shows. I know one of them (a MAFS male contestant who didn’t get to the end of the show) and he’s happy to have moved on and doesn’t call himself a star.

I’m hoping to see some AFF (FT) celebrities in a couple of weeks

What with so much entertainment being ad-free these days, it’s easy to miss stuff you‘ve got little interest in, like stuff to do with sport & Australian Of The Year awards given to sportspeople.

In the bar of the IC Double Bay listening to the trio with singer, guitarist and pianist. Also listening is Marcia Hines.
Now I am miffed. 40 years ago I was involved in getting her to perform at the Maitland Show. Now she walked straight past me and showed no recognition.
Will just have to have another drink.

With your weight loss, you are obviously not the figure you once were. :)

I arrived back into SYD from a nice time in Europe the other day and after riding the cattle truck to T3 entered the escalator up to the QF lounge. At the top of the escalator emerging from the Chairman's Lounge was the wretched Alan Jones. That's one way to shatter you back to reality and know you're back home.

I actually bumped into him in a pub in London and he was a completely charming and passionate about the airline.
