Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Really, really nice guy. Also the star of my current favourite sitcom (US version of "The Office"). Good thing my status hadn't updated by then (I qualified on the SYD-LAX flight)...otherwise I would've headed straight to the FLounge and missed him. :)

Thats what she said...

Just last week from MEL->CBR, Peter Costello. Followed by Red Symonds three days later CBR->MEL. I even oferred Red a drink at the QP! (shelling out again...)

There was another high profile politician in 1K ahead of me but can't remember his name... looked like your typical slimy dishonest pollie that didn't deserve his place anyway.

Late one night in 2002 on a flight from Minneapolis to LAX I was in the middle of a return first class flight to Australia on North West. We seemed to be all seated and waiting for a long time to depart. A strangely dressed young girl finally came in and sat next to me. It wasn't till later when the crew were fussing over her that I realised it was Britney Spears. My only really claim to fame is that I knocked over Britney's lemonade on my way back from the loo.... into my own seat!
I bet she doesn't travel with the riff raff like me anymore

I sat opposite Dr Harry (Vet) in the Qantas Club on the way to Tasmania (he lives there) and chatted to him in line while boarding the plane - very friendly, personable man.

My old thread lives again! Huzzah!

As an Infrequent Flyer these days I don't get the chance to see that many well-known persons any more. Plenty of AFL players in the QP whom I only recognise because of their track gear which says "Port Power" or suchlike.

I queued up with Boony one morning in Sydney - bar wasn't open yet!

Walked to the carousel with Mike Whitney not long ago. Could use a bit of bowling practice.

Peter Garrett sat behind me in a private box at the SCG Test in January (nothing to do with flying but I had to drop that in.) I was in the pleb concourse but he was close enough to pass a Crownie to me.

He didn't...

Just last thursday before easter saw Hugh Jackman with family in tow in the Sydney QP. He was looking very hollywood with hat and dark sunglasses. The sunglasses seemed to make it a bit more difficult for him to find the hidden entrance to the chairmans lounge.

A couple of Saturdays ago in the SYD T3 QP, Stephen Larkham (standing at the entrance to the QP talking with a fellow Wallaby for a good 20 minutes), Anthony Callea (talking on his phone and hiding from as many as possible) heading up to Brisbane and a Channel Nine news reporter talking loudly about how he was hoping to break a story that night.

James Courtney (V8 Supercar driver) in BNE QP on his way to MEL for Dancing with the Stars.

Kevin Rudd & Joe Hockey arriving in SYD from CBR on a Thursday night back when they used to do the All Stars segment on Sunrise.

Justin Chambers (aka Alex from Grey's Anatomy) eyeing off SWMBO in the AA terminal at JFK.  SWMBO was like a kid in a candy store for the next few hours.

Matt Welsh in SYD T3.

Hmm I am thinking my "Fat Bloke from blue Heelers" really doesn't compare - there are some threads I wish I hadnt started ;)

Sat next to Diasuke Matsusaka on a flight fom FLL to BOS a few weeks ago. or those of you who don't know baseball , he's the Red Sox young Japanese prodigy.

I think John Wood is one of the better acting talents in this country starring in successful series like Raffertys Rules and Blue Heelers. I would love to have the opportunity to meet him.

Not flying but travelling, I saw Boris Becker and his son getting out of a car to enter a hotel in Miami beach on Tuesday. He lives in Miami.

And saw Kiefer Sutherland walking down Bleeker Street in Manhattan yesterday, while we were sitting and listening to a do-wop group on the street.

(warning: useless uninformative post coming up ;))

there was obviously someone pretty famous on my recent SYD-LAX flight, as this young guy who was traveling with a large entourage of roadie look-a-likes, was attracting quite a bit of attention! People were coming up and asking for quick snaps and autographs!

His attempt at wearing a hoodie with a baseball cap didn't help his disguise!

Funny thing was that I didn't have the foggiest who this person was - just didnt look familiar at all! (his partner tho warranted attention ;))

He couldn't have been that important tho - as he was only traveling in J lower deck!

Too many to list here... but a couple to note would be:

Megan Gale - ADL-SYD - sat opp her in J. She was travelling with an entourage of about 6... 1 sec guard with her in J the rest in Y (plane was chockers)

Elle MacPherson waaay back in the late 1990's SYD-OOL

Paul Hogan & Linda Koslowski or whatever her name is + kid BNK-SYD during the old Ansett days.

Also BNK-SYD, John (Strop) Cornell & Delvene Delaney during the old Ansett days - got stuck behind them at check in... they were heading to the States.

Ben Harper and Jack Johnson SYD-OOL headin up to Byron Bluesfest (which I was also attending)

Rove McManus MEL-SYD

US Ambassador to Australian in the SYD CL - it was quite funny cause the lounge dragons (who are always nice at SYD CL) got very angry at the large contingent of "guests" the ambassador brought in. Of course didnt get anywhere near him due to his minders.

I know pollies shouldnt be included (have travelled with plenty of em) but I have to brag about being able to ride on Australia's answer to Air Force One quite a number of times with previous PM. While he was the technically the celeb... I was more excited about hitching a ride in that aircraft!

My colleague who spotted Steve Carrell with me last year met Robyn Williams in a lounge in SFO last weekend...not a bad sighting!

Sounds exactly like the SYD-LAX flight I just took on Sunday. There was a guy (skinny, dark hair, dressed in...an interesting way :D) with his blonde wife and young kid, being escorted by a QF staffer around the FLounge in SYD (heard his accent and he was American).

Then saw QF staff swanning over him at LAX while he was waiting for his luggage.

Absolutely no idea who he was, but the way he was dressed, he looked like a lead singer for a rock/grungey type band.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Hi,

Wife pointed out Yahoo Serious in SYD QP.
Spotted Brian McFadden in SYD QP.
Flew couple of weeks ago with ex Wallaby Phil Kearns in J Syd-Per.

If I travelled with mrs ejb more i'd notice more but I tend to have my head in laptop not looking around.

Yesterday I sat near Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency on a flight from MUC to BOS.

Could be an interesting guy to talk to, did you recognise him from what he looked like or by talking to him or something else ? Not the kind of person i would think many would notice just by chance.

Hmmm, many in my 20 years of flying...recollectable now are:

Loretta Swit (MASH) on AA3 in F (across the aisle) in 2002 - she had a minder whose look said "stay away". Immediately prior in the Admirals Club was Cher and her daughter + nanny.

Dinner in a restaurant at Big White (ski field/mountain) in Canada 3 year ago was John Farnham - where he has a chalet - my wife recognised him (I had my back to him).

Didn't meet him flying, but did a Contiki Tour of Europe in 1989 with Brett Godfrey.

Really disappointed that I saw nobody famous on my one and only Concorde flight :(
