How does one find out how many points would be required for a flight on CX departing cairns?
one would go to the Alaska website and check
I'm planning PER-NYC on CX soon, but my travel dates are a bit far out still. Just out of curiosity, how have people's experiences with phoning AS (toll free via Skype) and booking J seats on CX been? Are they relatively common for 2 people (anything must be better than QF)? How about general availability? I have heard a rumour that their allocation could be less than what I can see on QFF. Some info/personal thoughts on this would be really appreciated before I purchase a few hundred thousand miles. Thank you!
Arrrggh! I purchased a bunch of miles, it appeared to go through OK, then 2 days later I get an e-mail saying the purchase had failed.

I call customer care and they tell men that purchases can't be made except with a US or Canadian credit card. I queried it, she checked and confirmed - they can't do it over the phone with non US/Canuk cards. I was using a 28 Degree MC.
Did I miss this requirement?

For the heck of it, I just tried again with a Visa (still an Oz card). Went through 'pending confirmation' (as before).
I noticed that when you fill out the "Billing Address" it has the option for 'Australia' as country and then it populates the 'state' field with Australian states.
So it APPEARS to contemplate an Australian billing address. (Can you have a US issued card with an Australian billing address?)
Will see what happens now.
Had no issues using my CC, took round 24 hours for the miles to appear in my account but the payment went through almost instantly.
Eek! this is going to put a big glitch in my plans! Can anyone else verify?
