Sounds like some awesome trips coming up for those who were brave enough! Congrats all, some of you should get pretty good status and miles as well.

SIN-EWR-SIN on SQ in J (the all J non-stops). Is Star Gold possible? (on a Greek airline's FF scheme maybe?...)

I reckon this is the classiest flight since the Concorde. Please do a trip report!

You would expect so, but afraid it is not always the case. The JFK-HKG flights go over the arctic. My experience with SIN-EWR is that it travels to the east of Japan, over Alaska and Canada and down into New York via Ontario. EWR-SIN continues the journey around the world via Iceland, Sweden, Russia and India! But of course this may vary depending on time of year and prevailing jetstreams.

I beg to differ, it does vary at times but currently:

Nothing negative about flying over Alaska, breathtaking as well.

Which is why I indicated that it is not always the case. On the four occasions that I have flown SIN-EWR not once did we go near the arctic, likewise for another flight taken by a close friend. Only done EWR-SIN once, but my friend and I both had the same experience (on different flights) via Europe. Just advice for the OP don't be disappointed if you go nowhere near the Arctic as there are plenty of alternatives depending on conditions on the day of the flight.

Unless covered in cloud or asleep :(

I agree, we so want a trip report for this! It's one for the history books.

You'll be telling your grandchildren, "This one time, I flew first class halfway around the world for the cost of a tank of petrol nowadays" :!:

Well done - fortune favours the brave :p

OK, going way OT, but I had a look at flight aware and at least for the period since 4 May. It seems most of the SIN-EWR flights during that period followed the route over Alaska (and as far as I can tell so does the route listed - not plotted - in your screenshot above). One seemed to go north (I think) and one actually followed the US/Canada border. In the other direction there seems to be split between the polar route and the more southerly eastbound route. That seems to make sense and to bring it back to the topic at hand I do hope the flight I booked under this "deal" goes from EWR-SIN via the polar route, before I change planes and continue on to RGN ;)

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

The polar scenery and Alaska are awesome from the Air, even when your on the wrong plane ;).

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I'm disappointed I didn't get an email saying my flights are un-cancelled, but then I did try RGN-SIN-PER-SYD ... which is a totally different kettle of fish.

Similar. I also had a JNB fare that wascancelled prior to payment and ticketing and nothing on that. And I had another JFK fare but that wasn't ticketed or paid either.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

I've lost track of where we're all up to with the visa situation but . . .

Myanmar Visa & e-Visa Information I emailed these people and received a response within a few minutes. This is what they had to say:

Thanks for your enquiry mail and we are processing only Myanmar Tourist Visa On Arrival ( MTVOA ) straight from Yangon through the Ministry of Hotel & Tourism + Ministry Of Immigration ( both Myanmar Government Ministries ) for any nationalities. We will only take 10 days processing time.

The cost for MTVOA complete package ( including entry visa fee for Yangon Airport Immigration ) will be US $ 75 per person and with that you can stay 28 days in Myanmar WITH NO EXTENSION. The validity of this MVOA will be 3 weeks starting from the fly in date you will have given on the MTVOA application.

To process that we don’t need your passports or you settle the visa processing fee in advance as you fly in Yangon with our MTVOA scan where our staff will meet and clear you out then transferring you to the outside of the arrival lounge. You are safe as you fly in Yangon with our MTVOA scan and pay later in Yangon on arrival. Most important you don’t need to visit Myanmar Embassy anywhere.

So, you can give us the 4 items + 15 point data we need from you. The requirements will be as under and you can send that by email to < [email protected] > and copy to < [email protected] >.

Re: [fare gone] Yangon to New York, London etc. R/T in C < $800

But the official e-visa site is meant to be up and running within a week or so based on the last email I got (10 days ago)... No 3rd party required. It's not up and running yet though.. I have 7 weeks before I leave.
