Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat 13 -Sun 14 April]

The number of participants has certainly exceeded my expectations, which is wonderful to see.

I would be happy to go with the Indian theme, preferably in the CBD.

Incidentally, the bus from ADL to the city is very efficient.

Do we need a drinks location, or are we going straight for dinner...?

Ok, let me rephrase that... Is anyone joining me for a drink before dinner

Also, happy to do some leg work here in ADL if required prior...
I think there are a couple of exec lounges on offer, but I think we may be too many for them, so any decent bar in the vicinity of dinner or hotels.

Not really a "good" bar comes to mind somewhere around Jasmin

if that's where we are all thinking of going that is

The closest would be something like The Griffins Head ( The Griffins Head (The Griffins) ), but its nothing flash to be honest, drinks at IC or HH would be better but a fair hike for dinner...

I had my first (legal) drink there.

More than likely will be an apology.

Look forward to the photos.

Re: Farewell QF 81/82 run SYD-ADL-SYD [Sat-Sun Apr 13-14]

My friend George has confirmed and has 3A on QF81. I won't be able to guest anyone else to Flounge sorry.

For pubs, after post flight lounge drinks :?: ;) I'd suggest the Historian for a bit of old school adelaide. Or quaint and quirky The Historian Hotel

I agree with medhead on both counts. We should avail ourselves of the ADL QP's hospitality on arrival (with guesting), if only to adjust to the time change (yes, insert "wind your watches back 30 years" gag here). And the Historian is probably a pretty good choice as well.

who's going to attend from Qantas this special commemorative event...!

I know it's a Saturday event but I would really like to think that someone senior from QF would be able to acknowledge us, at least in the Flounge on Saturday morning. Even if it's just to say "hi guys, we still love you even though we've canned your direct escape route".

The more I've been thinking about the cancellation, the more I realise that a lot of my loyalty to QF originated in the fact that I could hop on QF81 and be away from it all in 6.5 hours. Ok, I'm just one pax, but I've told at least 50 real world people how incredibly disappointed I am about QF81 being axed, and I've told plenty more in cyberspace. Only one single person has tried to defend the decision and that was by parroting the official QF line (we remain committed to ADL, we have more ADL flights than anyone else, QF81 isn't viable as most people used it to fly to Europe). Everyone else has said they're unhappy about the cancellation.

Most people I know used QF81 as a route to Asia, not as a route to Europe, so I'm dubious about the claim that QF81 wouldn't be viable if it wasn't connecting with flights to Europe. I'd love to see the stats on that.

I would like it if Neil Perry came along and cooked my eggs benedict, and Miranda Kerr gave me a massage. Or the other way around. Fingers crossed :)

By the other way around do you mean uou woild like Neil Perry to give you a massage?

Hi

1 more guest spot please

Am booking the QF81 now :)

Will be joining for Sat Dinner as well

Cheers

Maybe he wants to give Neil Perry a massage and cook eggs benedict for Miranda?

Miranda doesn't strike me as an eggs benedict kind of girl. I'd give Neil Perry a massage if he asked nicely, but I would draw the line at touching his pony tail.
