Fears of ruined Christmas plans as Jetstar scraps flight

Okay well the flight was only going to have "about 80 passengers"

Seems to me they wanted to quietly cancel the flight due to low loads..

At least the media outcry has caused them to suddenly find an aircraft to put the flight back on basically

Shame on JQ for trying this in the first place

Honestly I very much doubt the "about 80 passengers" part. Transtasman flights just before Christmas are in very high demand. Across all the carriers only the most expensive fare classes are left. Even though it was the red eye flight if Jetstar can't sell out a flight in at this time of year some thing is wrong.

I believe there was some other reason. But they are keeping quiet.

So given that 40% of your flights cancel/change on Qantas I would assume there would be far more outrage on here then, since you claim Virgin rarely cancel flights........

I find that 40% figure for changes/cancellations very unlikely as well to be honest...

As for "hinting" that other people are more flexible than me, that's nice too

But again, I am pretty sure you never say that Virgin does anything wrong.. :)

We are going OT, 40% of my flights over 12 years is a fair estimate, although I am sure JohnK would suggest a higher figure from his experience. As for "outrage" over delays etc, it is quite common, heck even one yesterday :), travelling in peak hours on business routes does not help!

Endless complaints about cancellations/delays here

Yesterday
Really upset with the service from albury this arvo. 4:40pm flight never showed up and we were never told prior to us getting there. I travelled over an hour to get there for this flight, i needed to leave at that time as i have arranged a next flight half an hour after the scheduled arrival to go from syd to brisbane. But the staff said the plane wont come till 11pm (last flight). If we had a connecting flight arranged by virgin that they would arrange hotel and then their connecting flight in the morning.

I am sitting in the Sydney domestic airport right now after arriving and being told our flight got cancelled. I am very annoyed as no one told us! also I wanted to make it back to surprise my mum... as my brother is having a birthday dinner for her. I thought you would be reliable... but I was obviously wrong! If you told us the flight was cancelled, we could have come earlier! so annoyed! please think about telling passengers about cancellations or think about compensating passengers who have to face this situation! Thanks from "son missing mother's birthday".

Sunday
I could not be more disgusted in the lack of service by Virgin. They cancelled the flight at 11am today and could not find seats on another flight even though they had all day. The teacher tried in vain for 4 hours to arrange another flight with no joy.

I could go on............

I could go on............

You could but that would be even more OT, the context was complaints about delays on AFF, for which I provided an example from the same day as our discussion, facebook etc is irrelevant in that scope. When you travel often enough delays and changes just become part of reality, an unavoidable one, and when you book more than 6 months out, schedules rarely stick, however I must admit I have never had a change where the offered flight was days later!

Another reason why I shall avoid the orange cancer like the plague. That being said I did HKG-SIN on 3K once sitting in 1A once for about $200 one-way and it was bearable.

ABOUT 80 Jetstar passengers face the prospect of having their Christmas travel plans wrecked after the budget airline rescheduled a pre-Christmas flight from Melbourne to Auckland to a date after December 25.

Anybody know which plane was scheduled and its capacity?

Anybody know which plane was scheduled and its capacity?

I believe the cancelled flight was JQ215 on the 21/12, it is the red eye that departs at 11:55pm. The flight appears as normal scheduled for the Friday before and the Friday after, but is missing from the schedule for that date. That should have been an A320.

Does Jetstar have a department where employees look for ways to give the airline bad publicity?

I will be keep saying it until I am black and blue in the face. This poor excuse for an airline will never get the opportunity to disrupt my travel plans.

So about 177 to 180 passengers.

Mmmm so are the deathstar lying?

Quoted from Come Fly With Me, and it sums it up perfectly.
