Hi - what's the difference between push and alert in this case.

What I would like to get is an email when someone quotes me or mentions me - I have turned off all email notifications for watched threads but have email notifications for conversations

Thanks in advance

I don’t think you can get an email for that.

An alert is what you see in the top right (bell icon) while a push notification comes straight to a compatible device in a similar fashion that an email would appear in a notification centre on an iPhone.

I've noticed not all posts / threads are picked up by the your content function.

Tags are not being allowed to added to threads?
This is "as designed" as I wrote in the email reply to you.

For everyone else's benefit, the tag system is a big part of the SEO on AFF. In the vBulletin days we had a "tag cloud" that consisted of thousands of useless tags that were not related to travel and were often incorrectly applied to threads. Last year we turned this on its head by starting from scratch and updating the tags every month according to new threads posted throughout the month that matched with a much more limited "tag cloud" (found at the bottom of the community forum page). With the latest version we now have automatic tagging of threads based on keywords in the titles, and are allowing users to tag (their own) threads again, but only with the approved set of tags.

If you add a tag that isn't is the list, you will receive an error message when submitting your content. You must remove this tag before submitting. You can use tags that are already created though. The list is at the bottom of the community page or here.

I've just fixed all the broken links in my TR list.

Is it no longer possible to apply colour to hyperlink text?

I don't like it. Totally uninspiring and dull. The old version was quite nice but I guess with time I'll get used to this inferior version.
But you didn’t like the version before this? Which means you do get used to it eventually.

Full website functionality was a huge plus. And yes the old vBulletin software was even better.

Upgrades do not always mean better but we are getting closer to green screen functionality which people wanted to leave behind in the 90's.

OK, I've found an easier way to trawl through all the alerts. Most of them are reactions..... rather than clicking on each alert to see which post it relates to, there's a nice little feature called Reactions that is accessible here: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/account/reactions

That shows who made the reaction and even shows a snippet of the post right there so saves you having to click onto the alert. Nice. Much easier!

I totally agree that upgrades are not always better. In fact many products get upgraded so much they end up rubbish for the consumer. Windows updates are a great example. They go through periods of “awful”.

Windows Millennium Edition anyone? How about Vista? :P

We had both. Awful awful. Mind you we also had the Apple laptop that was the last one before Apple almost went under. It was a brick.

I've had a look at my list and it seems accurate – at least on the first page.

Something definitely broken with my link - hasn't picked up threads I've created in TR or Marriott forums. I've waited a week to test... so timing isn't the issue.

You can add BTC thread to the list....

From what I can see, it seems to miss posts when you start a thread, but picks up replies. Is that your experience too? Unsure why it behaves this way, may be a bug in the core software that needs to be patched.

Yes, on the start the thread link..... but it also hasn't picked up BTC thread in the SQ forum. I didn't start that one.

Looks to be random break in the link.
