Out of curiosity how would one go about attempting to get into a role such as this? I'm at the beginning of my career (Mechanical Engineer at a mining company).



They do all the Pilbara stuff I tend to travel on and I don't have a problem with it. Mind you I haven't been on one of theirs for 6 months or so.

"Corporate departure lounge"? Hah! Or, at least that puts some people in their places.

I didn't know the annual QP fee was that low. Is that disregarding the one off joining fee, or is this a corporate rate?
The corporate rate through AFF is $230 joining fee plus $400 pa.

Went through Perth today, lounge was full of high vis vests. All were well behaved and a lot of them were using ipads, laptops, etc whilst in the lounge in the like most business pax. The lounge on the 1st floor was full of people, whilst the one on the ground floor was half empty. I heard talk back radio in the taxi on way to airport where the union was discussing their claim to give their members Qantas Club membership, they mentioned 75% had it already based on flying hours. The talk back was then filled with people complaining with all kinds of arguments either way with some saying the Perth Lounge was like a camp. As mentioned previously my experience today was that FIFO travellers were just like business travellers.

I was there last night and one guy appeared not to be wearing a shirt. Though later on it appeared he was wearing a low cut skin coloured singlet (could have put it on there was a shower kit waiting near by). And then while I was waiting to board I saw the rozzers drag down one person who was being disruptive. Not sure what went on in the lounge as it had become a bit feral (no hi-viz in sight) and I left to find some peace and quite with the general masses. If I was a regular PER user, I don't know that I'd want to use the QF club.

Well pointed out Markmat - thats because they are business travellers - probably no better or worse behaved than anyone else whom is allowed to use the lounge.
