Final flights for the B767

again, i go by ANA as one of the better examples of what can be achieved with the interior of a 767. QF doesn't come close. Locker space is not an issue - it is the size of the lockers to handle standard international rolla-boards.

Give me an ANA interor and I'd happily fly the 767s domestically in Australia.

Again, Qantas had not intentions of keeping their 767's, for many reasons but mostly cost of operating them. No doubt if they had of decided the fleet was economical to operate under Australian conditions and market, they would have went the whole hog and put in new interiors. Though I rekcon if they did that there would be a thread dozens of pages long complaining about Qantas's ancient 767's, just like there is with people complaining about the upgraded 747's (and also forthcoming A330 upgrades), which are younger than the 767's anyway.

I agree, but then why bother with the new coverings if it was for such a short time anyway? Personally I didn't see any improvement in comfort and was left wondering why it appeared to be a half effort. Different strokes for different strokes i guess. The convenience of being able to easily stow max sized cabin baggage is for me one of the most important things. For that reason, the departure of the 767 fleet for me is a good thing.

As they announced themselves it was a stop gap measure to liven them up. Besides the biggest cost would have been the WIFI IFE system, which can be simply un-bolted and now fitted to the older 738's. So no waste of money there.

Amaroo, I feel your pain.
Now I see why all my flights, that were 767s too, SYD to BNE, all became a 737 for trips later this year and into next year.
QF, how could you.
Its all so sad, I remember boarding my first QF 767, at Adelaide's old domestic terminal, physically climbing up the stairs, stepping into Business Class, that time there was no access to QP even sitting in J dom.
So sad, all these memories come flooding back.
I want to cry out loud.
Thanks for the memories Eminere. Thanks for the post. I might book that last ADL - MEL 767!

Yep, Mattg, most days SYD - BNE with QF booking page on their website shows a lot of 737s doing the run.
Few 330s. One per day or max of two.
Next thing tgey might bring in 737 long ranger to do PER - MEL or vv or PER - SYD or vv.

Docjames, if you are of a "like mind" ie enjoy the 767, enjoy the experience, and have a quiet cry.
I have successfully booked ADL - MEL 17Dec early afternoon flight.
Now need a JQ cheapie back to ADL.
Lucky my QP membership has about 2 weeks after that 17 to come up for renewal.

Ta for the tip Matt.
I do have an arvo trip PER - SYD crimbo time, 25Dec of all days.
Dep PER 15.30 I think.
Paws crossed they wont change my 330 to a 737 that day.

Always pick the 767 over the 737 where possible.

Sad to see them go.

Don't count on it. In the last couple of weeks three of my carefully selected B767 morphed into one of those lousy 737.
Same here. I've purposely chosen 767s twice this year only to find a 737 sitting at the gate.

Slightly off topic but I did notice the ad for the return of a 767 to the graveyard on 60 minutes...what I noticed was an empty plane and the journo STILL didn't get an op-up to business lololol

It was supposed to be on 60 minutes a couple of weeks ago. It is the all female crew and the x-Disney "Planes" 767.
Will be very interesting to watch, especially for those who want know a little more about the "graveyard" in Victorville.

Looks like my final QF 763 flight will be on December 24 from SYD to MEL. Its sad to see these birds go...

I sure am going to miss the 767, such a lovely bird to travel on.

I am yet to book my flights for late Nov-early Dec so I shall be moving heaven and earth to book on the 767 and then crossing my fingers that there isn't a 737 sitting at the gate when time comes to fly.

I like the 767...it was the first jet aircraft I ever flew on just 10 short years ago...it was SYD to HKG :)

Selecting domestic routes, my first choice is the 767...not a fan of the sardine can 737 (or 320, not that QF has any of those anyway)...I guess the A330 will have to be the replacement

So cya later....Ferrari of the skies...

It will be sad to see the end of the 767. My very first QF flight was on a 767 to CHC. Love the sound of those GE engines roaring on take off from SYD 34R

While the 330s are a step up (in Y) for trans-con, it's a shame they're not as nimble as the 767 for a turn around on the triangle.

I might just have to try and take one last 767 ride before they're gone...
