FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

If you are required to pay the fee and it's one or the other, CB over Amex as you would need a visa/mc anyway. I'm using CB more than my Amex these days, it has some very nifty extras

Thanks for the previous responses, made the decision clearer (vs amex plat) and applied on Monday, received approval a couple of hours ago. Not bad, hopefully the cards come out quickly. Will have to call to redeem bonus points in the form of QFF (for the sign up), once they come ill change to citipoints. Not looking forward to dealing with overseas call centres, i am fairly persistent though!

1 more question, the bonus hotel stay, is that per calendar year, or per subscription year?

Thanks again to everyone who offered advice, look forward to maximising the potential from this card!

In my experience hotel stay is per calendar year.
Prestige call center is better than most offshore call centers - they generally understand what you're after but hardly ever need to call them.
Quite often during Australian business hours you might get through to the call center in Sydney.

I've found the Prestige call centre pretty good. I usually speak to a call centre in Sydney or Hong Kong

Have secured another Limo Transfer for Sat night - Sth Melb to MEL - have arranged dinner with friends will go direct after that - overcomes problem of our home being 17km outside the 30km limit for MEL Limo Service.

Now whilst the erosion of conversion rate of Citi Rewards pts to SQ / VA is an absolute kick in the guts - the Prestige IMHO is still a great card - lots of value attached to this card if you take advantage of as many possibilities as you can - fee free for me so that makes it even better.

How did you get it fee free? I'm trying to push for $350 for life

CE what magnitude of spend gets you to fee free? I was at $500k last membership year & got 50% off plus 20k points.

I was speaking to CSR on the prestige line this week on this and other benefits, they advised it was definitely per membership year. Meant I missed my benefits for the part year (I upgraded this year) but they refunded my part year fee to compensate. I'd have preferred the benefits to be honest.

Oh no, I just logged on and saw that SQ is no longer 3:2 but 2:1 - when did this happen? I knew they did that for signature some time ago but didn't know the prestige had been changed! I've been saving > 1.2 million points...

Shocked to find the same. I have my next year (until Apr) flights covered but nonetheless this reduction in redemption ratio to SIA/VA hurts. Does anyone know When this happened??

People the reversed the decision..... Back to normal on points convert..... Wait a couple of days though... M

Well, back to normal for a while anyway but I think you'd be blind not to see the writing on the wall now!

What a dilemma !

3-yr ticking clock (on top of 500K sitting there already from Westpac SQ monthly sweep) or imminent devaluation w/o any grace notice

I am leaning towards redemption and burn it on flights.

Don't forget towards the 3rd year, you can still transfer the points out of SQ to VA. A hair cut, but not total lost

Whoever at Citibank that started this should be in trouble, there must be massive number of points being redeemed in the last few days.

If anyone joined Prestige this year because of their free hotel night and free airport transfer, there may not be any good news coming. They still do not allow bookings for 2016.

Now, can they cancel all those features that lured people to join, without giving notice prior? (Or maybe they have already done so) They still advertise the benefits on the website. Join Prestige now and then sorry no hotels no airport transfer?

Well, that is the traditional Citi way of doing it. Whether or not they think twice about this strategy in light of recent events will be interesting to see.
