FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

I don't know but I imagine it's no different to booking through any 3rd party - usually voids status / points earn with most if not all chains does it not?

I have a 4 pay 3 stay at Waldorf Astoria SH in May - cough Man has already indicated they will honour Dia level benefits but I am certainly not expecting pts / status nts.

I think it's complete rubbish that hotels won't recognise status just because you don't book through them. Do any airlines do this? As far as Im aware your status is recognised on airlines whether you book directly or via Expedia etc - why shouldn't hotels be the same?! They're still getting your business either way.

It's because the margins/commission on hotel bookings are much higher. They make much more money when you book direct.

I see no issue with it, really. Like everything else in life they are just price-segmenting the market. And they all have price beat guarantees etc, even if some of them don't work at all...

This may have been answered already (probably by you Cruiser!), but can you do an 8 night hotel booking as two back-to-back 'stay 4, pay 3' bookings, using the same prestige card?

Actually I have not tried that one - Cruiserette and I did B2B 5nt (Stay 5 Pay4) bookings in Bali over Christmas - one on her card and one on mine - but 2 B2B on same card - never tried it. If you were to book first one then second one a week later maybe they would allow - don't know - who is going to be the 'guinea pig' on this one?

I'll be the guinea pig :-)

Thanks Cruiser

so did we have any confirmation about hotel chain status vs pay 4, stay 3?

if they are booking through hotels.com usually you wouldn't get the status benefits. i've sent a request off to see if they offer the benefits through spruik through visasignaturehotels.com, will come back when I have an answer.

unsurprisingly they don't piggyback.

cruiser - i do see your reference to the 'interesting' part of the booking though. wonder if it would work outside the citi channel.

Just did my first transfer to SQ before the devaluation. Did transfer one night and they were there next night. 411k points should get me a few flights. Won't get to use them until 2018 but looking forward to trying out that double bed. Hopefully there will be no "enhancements" before then.

I saw this Credit appear in Prestige card a few days ago and it had me tossed - had me scratching my head:

Today received letter from Citibank advising Credit was a refund for 1nts accom on a Stay 4 / Pay 3 booking I had for Double 6 Bali over Christmas - I actually booked Stay 5 / Pay 4 with this - Cruiserette booked the same on her Prestige as a back to back - so we got Stay 10 / Pay 8 - anybody questioning if the Prestige is worth the $700 ann fee I think this substantiates it.

Definitely worth it if you travel a lot. But I think that the minimum $150000 salary requirement would stop most people applying it.

Although it seems like getting the Signature, increasing limit to $30k and upgrading could be a way around it if desired.

In theory (and only theory) though, Citibank should still check your income requirements when upgrading. Then again, we are talking about Citibank here.

All I am hoping now is that they will upgrade me to Prestige from Signature for free.

Good luck with the free upgrade. I don't know anyone who managed to get this.

Income verification is only to extend a line of revolving (unsecured credit) and once this is established you're free to switch around the same credit products easily. This has been the case in Australia in my experience for at least the last 20 years. So getting the credit limit is a back door way into the card but you do risk not getting any sign on bonus points.

Citibank would be daft to upgrade FF4L Signature cardholders to Prestige FF4L.

I just switched a big pile of points in Citi Prestige to Velocity because I could. The devaluation is next month so I may get a chance to do some to someone else before the change.

Must be an 'enhancement', but recently had request for the complimentary limo service denied. Tried to use the two complimentary services to and from the airport, only to be told that you can only claim one per 'itinerary'. Did not have this issue last year.

As for the stay 4, pay 3. In my experience, not nearly as good this year. I requested pricing for an upcoming stay. Received 3 different quotes varying in price by $600. 24 hrs later requested to book the cheapest price, only to get a 4th price which was more expensive again. Explained that prices constantly fluctuate, etc. Considering the stock email from citi now says that all requests will be responded to within 24hrs, i don't know how you can get an accurate quote by their reasoning?

Got another quote for a hotel stay, a few fluctuations once again over a couple of days, took the cheapest price to flight centre and they matched it. I think that is the way to go from now on.

Only got this card last year, was thrilled with the concierge and service initially. It has changed significantly this year for the worse, if there was a more generous points program out there where i could warehouse points i would jump ship.

It is ridiculous that Citibank seems unable to get a quote straight away in real time. Or allow us to claim these sort of things online. I have also found booking the free night to be very complicated since the concierge seems to have to send the hotel an email to check availability, then check back with me if it is OK (where I have previously indicated that I wanted the free night at the hotel he/she is checking!). Not to mention the very poor range of choices for the single free night.
