FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

Just received my latest Prestige statement. Interest free days have been reduced from 55 days to 44 days from August - guess it's the same as for similar cards from other banks.

Intersting to see that the Signature version is still listed as 55 day card. I would have though if anything the flagship card would have remained 55 days with Signature being downgraded to 44. Surprising.

I'm sure that enhancement is coming soon to the signature.
I'm fine with the reduced interest free days as long as they don't touch the earn/conversion rates (until the RBA tinkers with the system again in the name of reform).

whilst i think it's good they show you pending transactions, i'm a little annoyed that the FX rate changes.

e.g. put an FX transaction through last week. sat at pending for a few days. when it finally cleared it was 3.37% higher than the original charge that showed up. another one was 3.62% and a difference of ~$300.

anyone else experienced similar? it's certainly made me reconsider if I should go back to an FX free card, even if there are no rewards.

I use BW World instead and it is ok to get 1.95 Qantas FF points per pound and zero special fee from the forex conversion. The earn rate is getting trimmed later on in June by a third.

Just received a scripto pen with spare refill in tonight's mail from Citi as a birthday present. Had received wine occasionally out of the blue in the past but never a birthday present. Best card I've ever owned - good points earn and built in benefits & a birthday present.

Happy birthday Albyd :-) Citi knows what to get the person who has everything!

Hehe thanks thehound. Unlikely to put the pen in a suit as a "signing" pen for closing deals but felt good to get something :)
Doesn't take much to get me excited.

My average for BRG is about $250 per night less than the prepaid, is a flexible booking and has no night limitations (done it for 1-10nights). I am also regularly doing this for 2-3 rooms at a time.

Moindardt, you never shared with us how you're managing to get $250 per night less than prepaid rates using best rate guarantees. Please share!

At which SPG hotel?

Trying to find what I had as to the original price. Some I only have some things on notes but they were all at least 35% more than what I paid. You get 20% off the price that you find that is lower than their cheapest price. Now you have to book and get a before and after price. Before you just got what the cheaper rate was and then what the discounted rate is. You still get full benefits, credits and points on SPG stays, including upgrades. As a Platinum I get continental Breakfast for 2 + club room if any (amongst others)

Grosvenor house Dubai, Prepaid (no breakfast) 1100AED our rate 694AED with breakfast (used SNA to get suite, included breakfast and had club lounge)
W Times Square, Prepaid USD$800+ mine USD$481.51 (Platinum continental breakfast) (upgraded to suite)
St Regis Rome, Prepaid Euro650-700 our rate 315.11 Euro (Full Buffet Breakfast for 6 - one room upgraded)
Prince De Galles Rome Euro 1055 our rate 567 Euro + 1000 starpoints (SPG50 discount - was Paris fashion week so completely booked out) One room upgraded to 2500Euro Suite while all these fashionista's complained. We had paparazzi outside the hotel regularly. Full Buffet Breakfast for 6.
Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast $450prepaid ours $220 (nothing as was gold then)
Others I can't find are Westin Dawn Beach, Sheraton Hong Kong

Had a couple of others but cancelled (because they are flexible) when better deals came up. Unfortunately I decided to do some cleaning up and do you think I can find the emails. One was Sheraton Times Square for New Years. Was about $1100 for New Years and got down to about $500 but cancelled and went to Westin Times Square when their rooms changed to $300 (lasted a few hours). St Regis New York (was about $400 cheaper - changed to Westin), Sheraton Hong Kong, The Chatwal New York (was over $700 per suite discount on SPG50 over Christmas - changed to Westin).

Last night I was trying to reconcile the points earned without success on my non Qantas May statement. It was about a thousand short so is there a trick to it? I don't ever want to call Citi in Australia.
I think I will just enjoy the 15% bonus and keep watching to work out what they have stopped points earning on other than ATO.

It stopped earning on BPAY payments too.

The same arrived at my place, thanks Citibank. And what did I get from Amex Centurion?.......
A big fat zero.
I am very happy with the Citi product, as long as they don't "enhance it"...

Citi have liked to keep things interesting the past six months randomly placing daily freezes on the card usage apparently due to a daily limit being exceeded. Excessive usage unlikely to be of a personal nature definitely being frowned on.
Our current trip to Alaska and BC was going to cause logistical issues yet all the usual payments were made pain free for the first time in months.

Thats why I always just call and pay over the phone with most places, instead of using Bpay on line. still get the points still
works ok for me

A month later and I have more than a thousand extra points. So up and down but no phone call to Citi. That works great for me.

I did my smaller insurance payment earlier this week. Points balance is where I thought it would be so appears to still be working for that category. I'll do a further reconciliation & report back when I get my statement before I put through my larger invoice.
I'm usually out by +/- a few hundred to a thousand points a month. Cost of doing business. I think calling to chase the crumbs might do more harm than good.

Yes albyd I don't need them to know much about us so I don't call for short points nor long points.
