On the top floor at the back of the building I spied this.

A kids entertainment precinct that looks like it has been closed for some time.

Mrs NoName took NoName Jnr here when they visited at the start of 2020. There are/were various different activities where the kids get to try different occupations. From the top of my head there was that airport, a McDonald where they got to make their own burgers, a hospital I think, fire station, and some others that escape me. He loved it. Would have stayed there all day if Mrs NoName had have let him.

What percentage of mask wearing is there outside of the Hotel?

A better day today. Just one line against C. None at T.
Last night just a stuffy nose which I have 80-90% of the time. Otherwise feel well.

So it is possible I had covid 4-5 days ago causing a temperature that I didn't even notice. Certainly not the worst lurgi I have had.

Rambutans looks delicious.

Pomelo - trivia: the largest citrus fruit in the citrus family. You can tell it’s a citrus by the individual elongated or oval “cells”.

Did you see any Jackfruit?
No, but this is a as RON says a low end- high end market !! So you get fresh current stuff at a premium price !

Have had a while to think. I almost certainly was covid positive when I flew to Singapore. For 2 days before flying both of us just felt exhausted plus the 2 days in Singapore.
On the Sunday before flying we went to lunch with friends at a pub. Lots of young uns and nobody with masks. Along with the fact that on a population basis QLD is having twice the number of new cases compared to Singapore.

The day I had the faint positive test was day 9 and today was day 10 from the possible transmission. Just goes to show you how easily this thing can spread.
I am now wearing an N 95 mask as I might still be the dangerous one.

Did you test earlier than Day 9? So it seems like you were doing a lot of exploring while positive. I guess it's no wonder countries want new arrivals to be tested on day 1. It's also great to hear that it was a mild illness. Fatigue seems to be the main symptom for you?

I had no reason to test as have often felt a bit of fatique with mrsdrron cracking the whip with the gardening. Though on those last couple of days did virtually nothing.
Only tested because I got my sinusitus symptoms but thought in the circumstances should check. Another lesson learnt for when we do a real trip -take the antihistamines along.

Sinusitis symptoms were my first clue on Monday morning, like you did a RAT just to be sure, and those 2 lines came straight up.
Glad to have it now before my travels start.
It has turned out that my sinusitus symptoms were indeed sinusitus. The stuff I was producing was becoming more purulent. Then on descending into SIN yesterday I got severe L ear pain and my L Eustachian tube was blocked. Began antibiotics 24 hours ago and very little discharge now. So if it were not for the sinusitus I would never have known I had covid.
The takeaway message- being triple vaxxed I was asymptomatic and blissfully walking around Singapore. Fortunately came into contact with very few people. So even your vaxxed friends can be a danger to you.

Now back to the TR.
That night back down to the Living Room. I decided to try a coughtail rather than wine again.

The Vada Gimlet. Sounded good. This was it.
20220508_180721.jpg.

So a chilli, some basil and lemongrass in it. Didn't do much for me so back to the red wine.
Our canapes.
20220508_180805.jpg.
Simple dinner. Some soft shell crab and chicken satays.'
20220508_192236.jpg.

OK by us. On top of this we were getting 1000 baht a night F&B credit so really didn't cost us anything.

Monday and neither of us feeling very energetic. So we walked over the road to the Robinson's store.
Pigeons were using the water feature for a full on bath.

We noticed this from the walkway.
20220509_105921.jpg.

Selling bakeries, drinks and pre prepared meals from a street stall in front of the SGS. Talked to the GM who told us they were making up to 200000 baht a day ~$A8000. It all went into keeping on as many staff as they could. Another thing we like here. They have always treated their staff well.

Since our last visit they have extended the walkway up Sukhumvit street. In 2019 it only went to the Robinson's entry. Now it goes to Nana BTS station and the Sofitel.

In Robinsons mrsdrron found just what we needed! A 10 litre rice cooker.
20220509_110836.jpg.

We then walked over to Terminal 21 and bought a few more mangosteens. Now on Saturday they had been 69 baht a Kg at the tops supermarket but today the same mangosteens were 229 baht a Kg. So we told them they were dreaming and went to the Gourmet supermarket in Terminal 21 where they were still 189 baht a KG. It is early in the season and by Thursday they were 59 baht a KG at Tops and 129 baht a Kg at Gourmet.

After all that hastling we needed to go and cool down at a nasty place with nice frappucinos.

Why I can't buy durian in Bangkok.
20220510_110625.jpg.

But I am very good at peeling mangosteens.
20220510_135804.jpg.

The living room and the back up piano player is on. He is very shy but we did get to talk to him on our last day.20220510_185320.jpg

Our canapes.
20220510_180706.jpg.

Mrsdrron once again had the satays.
20220510_191417.jpg.

Whilst I went for the Khao soi chicken. It is a favourite of mine.

There now is a day's gap as because I had sinus symptoms I did a RAT which had a very faint line. Has to be called positive anyway. I followed up with another test the next day which was negative. However for safety of others I donned a N95 mask when we went out. Just a brief visit to Robinsons and Terminal21 again. Here is the hotels pre cooked meal street stall.
20220511_122537.jpg.

Went to the Supermarket to see if they had any Durians for @Quickstatus . And they did so here are their durians and mangosteens.
20220511_123132.jpg.
20220511_123212.jpg.

Then to the food court of Terminal 21 to have my oyster omelette.
20220511_130254.jpg.

The price has surged. 20 baht when the place first opened, 40 baht in 2019 and now 60 baht. Still cheap. $A2.50.

Individually barcoded durians! what has the world come to.
Best way to jack up the prices:oops:

Mythbuster Mangosteens - the number of segments are supposed to correlate with the number of petals on the inferior part of the mangosteen.

So our last night in Bangkok. Naturally back to the Living Room. Our canapes.
20220511_181108.jpg.

No other food pictures as we shared satays and Pad Thai and you have seen those already. But the reason we love coming to Thailand and the SGS in particular.
20220511_203820.jpg.20220511_203822.jpg.

The staff here at the SGS. they are truly wonderful and just like part of our family. It has been wonderful getting back and seeing them. A little sad as some no longer work here but the new faces made up for it. If anything the staff this time worked harder at pleasing the guests. they certainly want business to get back to normal.
Sure things are not like they were pre covid but we still enjoyed this stay. A little more chilled out than usual but we will be back in December and get to a few more of our favourite restaurants.

The major problem was we were going to have to leave early the next morning. Checked out as I was using a Marriott E gift card and I didn't want to chance that early in the morning. Had no problems and the Exchange rate for the gift card was even better than the cash exchange rate. I had bought it early in 2020 when $US 1000 gift cards were offered at $US 700. I didn't think I would be waiting 2 years to use it though.

Alarms set for 0500 and car booked for 0600. Early enough for sunrise.

Great time to get to BKK though. no traffic and there in 20 minutes.
