upon boarding we realised we had been bumped. another older couple in our selected 14D,F seats. but then this booking was with mrsdrron's points and she has no status. all her points are ex velocity. They were due to expire in feb 2020 so at the end of January her points were just enough to fly J SIN-BKK-SIN in J in August 2020 Plus SIN-BNE in J. Naturally those flights didn't occur but when returned have kept on being extended.
So we were back in 22 D,F.

And remember when you want to have a pre take off drink ask and you shall receive. actually the FA wasn't going to do it but the cabin manager overheard and overruled.

It wasn't too long after take off that the satays appeared.

Followed very quickly by the second glass of champagne.

Then an appetiser with some sort of fish and mango salsa. I had now switched to the French red.

The mains were a choice of chicken breast with veggies, the Indonesian curry which I had had on the way up to BKK and wasn't that good or a beef and mushroom dish. So I ordered the chicken. Again OK but nothing out of the ordinary.

Finally the cheese plate which was nice.

One thing that sets Singapore apart from the rest of Asia is that StreetFood does not exist. They have been coralled into hawker centres.
Did you venture there?

i have always wondered if the airlines only order a set number of satay sticks per flight and whether there are usually spares. I have always been too timid to ask for an extra stick or three

I was wondering that also after some recent SQ J flights. Certainly on MH, they would come by with a tray of leftovers (if there were any).

There were a few areas of Turbulence but nothing terrible. i watched 2 movies. James bond and a Clint Eastwood production - the 15.17 to Paris. I liked both though Bond is getting weirder.

Then dinner. I had the beef and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good but the old cow had died down the back paddock some time ago.20220517_153459.jpg.

Despite leaving late an early arrival into BNE. I guessed right which door the air bridge would go to so we were first off and first through Immigration. Never asked a thing going through the automatic gates. Our bag was a little longer getting out but still in the first 10 through customs.
Our limo was waiting to take us home.

We really didn't eat too much on this trip. There were out splash out lunches and lounge food so we didn't get to a hawker centre. We usually do but not like they were way back when.

We did enjoy the trip and covid really didn't upset the trip too much.

When we got back we had had lots of rain so although the weeds had grown the usual plants had outgrown them. The tomatoes are like triffids and the herbs taking over.

So that's all folks but it will only be 10 weeks before we are off on what was our normal trip pre covid. 8 weeks with driving in Northern Spain, a Mediterranean cruise and driving in England.
We will have a booster ~ 2 weeks before heading off but only to minimise our chances of testing positive on the cruise.

We just arrived home from Singapore a few weeks ago. We ate at the hawker centre near Bugis St and the Lao Pa Sat centre downtown. There were a few closed concessions at each but otherwise the usual food choices and value.

Great TR guys and excellent photos and brought back some good memories and I’m looking forward to getting back to Singapore at some stage in the near future

I'm not sure we actually got in the groove but it was enjoyable.
This trip was another first for me. although i took my camera all the photos on this trip were taken with my phone.

As we will be heading to SIN in about 6 weeks I am getting a little nervous.
I think we are just out of "travel condition" and we are 2 years older ! Plus we have been "conditioned" to be over cautious !! So it was a bit stressful, especially when we got to the Singapore airlines lounge and it was chockers full and a zoo !!

A sub ride sorted that issue for us.
