I'm flying Finnair in April for the first time.

Just difficult to adjust to, if you’re used to a reclining seat, foot well is small and has an annoying pillar. Difficult to get in and out of to get up. Definitely don’t select a seat in the first 2 rows. I felt sorry for the people there as the galley and more particularly the lavatory in row one would be extremely disruptive.

But the footwell in the front row is much bigger. So if that is a concern, choose front row and BYO ear plugs.

(I welcome readers who have flown and have had different experiences to counter this claim.)

Footwell size wasn't an issue for me. Moving from seated to lying position and returning to seated position from sleeping requires dexterity - no help so relies on your knees and back having no issues. I had a knee injury so it was crazy hard to crawl in out of the lying position.

Also if a side sleeper can only sleep on one side due to angle.

Seat belt used when sleeping is retractable so makes it hard to roll over.

Official seat cover (let alone the ones QF provide) has nothing to keep it in place, so it moves out of position. Seat is super firm and topper very thin.

Pillow + cushion are not very good (need to be bigger).

Your head is in butt position when
sleeping as no recline. No lumber support when seated except for cushion.

Seat ok for lounging, poor for sleeping imo.

Other people like Princess Fiona love it, for me it's better than whY of course but least favourite J seat which offers lay flat.

I guess the seat is not for everyone. Given the choice, would I however fly AY in biz over QF? Most certainly!

Im the opposite, in terms of hard product the QF J seat (especially on A380) has more accessible storage. The automated recline makes transitioning from seated to sleeping position super easy, the non retractable sleeping belt makes it easier to roll over and lumbar support is superior.

AY do not provide PJs.

would I however fly AY in biz over QF? Most certainly!

100%! The food, IFE and crew are wonderful.

Did 8 flights in this seat in 2024.

Every single flight the IFE stopped working and had to be reset.

The film and TV catalogue is also by far the most limited of any major western airline.

My flights (3 long haul, 2 within Europe) were last December. Maybe they changed by then? Just checked my TR - I complimented the IFE (comparing it, in recent experience with QF, QR, TK and SQ). It was the wi-fi that was flaky.
