We’ve just had to cancel our CDG HEL SIN J redemption due to a change of plans :-(. Now doing ZRH SIN MEL SQ J a week later…. Was looking forward to the AY J seat, C’est la vie

I hear Finnair are about to drop some good deals for next year.

I hope so though "good deals" seems to have a different meaning at the moment compared with previous years. I've been looking at J returns to UK next September and the cheapest OW option I've been able to find is roughly $7.6k on UL. AY have been consistently pricing around the $8.5-9k mark. Even the consolidators have only been able to offer flights around $6.5k on the likes of Star. The "cheaper" AY deals seem to have the AU/SE sectors on TG, which is interesting. Long gone seem to be the AY RTW at $7.2k (as I took a couple of months ago) or the JL return deals at $5.8-6.6k.

Regards,

BD

Have you tried going through say Jakarta, as they have some great deals. I agree with J products costing a lot more than previous years, but that is kinda like everything at the moment. Once capacity comes back to normal I should hope we see some great deals again.

Yes, but the cheapest I could find there (or MNL/BKK etc) was around $4.8k on QR. Once you add in the J positioning flights from AU and allow time (hotels usually) for delays/potential misconnects, not really saving anything for quite a bit of inconvenience.

Have just flown HEL>LAX on the A350 but it was the older J seats. Noticeably not as good (well relatively speaking, J is always a good seat). One of the others on the flight sitting by the window lost their Ipad and Buds down the side of the seat as there's a gap between the seat unit and the windows/frames. Don't think this would've happened on the new J seats either.

I flew Finnair from DFW to Hel and then Hel to Hong Kong about a month ago. I love flying this airline but did not think that the food was as good as it had been when I last flew with them

You know the changes are not good when Finnair publicly justifies them as "helping the airline return to profitability".

I just dont understand why airlines would do this. How much are they saving per pax per flight? $10? Just charge the customer $10 more and be done with it. I don't think that $10 is going to make or break someone's decision to pony up for J.
