Finnair status run experience from hell

Good to see things are starting to work out JohnK

You'll be sipping those beers late one arvo in the QP before you know it :D

Also pleased to see things seeming to work out ok JohnK. Nothing worse than planning and executing for so long, only to have something beyond one's control potentially screw things up. Enjoy the SG status and the benefits that go with it.

I think all will be OK it just takes time.

John, glad it will all work out for you, nothing worse than putting effort of time and money into something and seeing it go down the toilet

I am not getting too excited until I see that shiny new gold card.

good on ya JohnK!

Let us know when the Gold Card turns up.
And the luggage tags! Don't forget those priceless luggage tags!
You wouldn't believe it but on the last trip my sturdy luggage identification tag and QF silver status tags look like they have been chopped off clean on the luggage so I will definately need the new gold tags very soon.

I reckon I know how that happens. Stand at the carousel in SYD T1, where the bags drop off the belt. The handlers always seem to load bags onto the belt with the top facing the direction of travel. Most people have their tags attached to the handle on the top, so when the bags crash down onto the carousel handle first, the tag ususally cops a complete hammering. I'm surprised mine has actually survived the last two trips.

Same thing happened to me on SIN-MEL in Jan. One SG tag was chopped clean in two, like a pair of scissors had been used (both pieces).

But this seems mysterious as there is no trace of the tags or the material that was binding them to the handle. My paper QF identifaction tag remained but it was soaked so I have no idea what went on there. I think the tags were cut off with scissors and will now be sold on eBay.

My Qantas Club tags seem to last around 8-10 flights before being destroyed. Might have to move onto the Platinum tags next and see how long they last!

Now if Qantas were to issue titanium tags, or at least have some metal in them they might last a little longer. The plastic just can't compete with the rigors of travel.

Yes, well if you use Sydney airport and have checked luggage, anything can happen.

Road to platinum! 1130 SC's required by May 31st!!!!
Now there's the spirit! Go John!

I need 760 SC's to make WP before Nov 30th. I need to make two more trips to SIN later this year (=240 SC's) and a fair bit of domestic travel but can't really see me making it easily, and not sure if there is a point anyway. :?

I also think I am going to fall a bit short of WP - but should get to SG. Looks like I'll get about halfway betweem the two. Not sure if I am going to bust myself getting there. But will see how the next couple of months pan out SC wise.

With my flight patterns this year I'd be lucky to make wood or mud.

Lucky you only drop one tier per year. :D :D :D :D

Sorry, just my warped sense of humour after the Finnair experience from hell.

Probably only 660 SC's to go for platinum in 31 days which seems highly unlikely. But a very disticnt possibility next membership year or the one after that i achieve platinum. I would love to know what it feels like to be a w@nker for a year.

If you are lucky then you may keep status for another year. I have also heard that if you pray daily and go to church at least once month then you are also likely to get to keep current status for another year.

I'm definately in trouble then :!:

Finally!

They have not adjusted the FF points for the QF10 SIN-MEL from Silver to Gold status bonus. I read somewhere on this site that this should adjust automatically. Is this right? Should I follow up QF to ensure the adjustment happens or should I wait for automatic adjustment ?

Automatic adjustment should happen the same time as the Gold change I thought. Leave it for a few days, and if no adjustment turns up send a polite email to Qantas FF or give them a call.

Glad to see it worked out in the end.
