Good stuff, congrats from this EX scum who believed that would be it until I found AFF (and FT) ... time to start planning that DONE4. ;)

You are right, I have also learnt a lot from AFF (and FT) and my main goal is to try to maintain QF Gold next year.

DONE4 may have to wait a little longer until funds are adequate.

Yay! Congratulations JohnK! It's great to see that everything came through for you. That was a tough graduation from Pleb to Scum!

Should I follow up QF to ensure the adjustment happens or should I wait for automatic adjustment ?

Automatic adjustment should happen the same time as the Gold change I thought. Leave it for a few days, and if no adjustment turns up send a polite email to Qantas FF or give them a call.
I spoke to QF service centre today about additional status bonus points posting. Apparently it would not have happened automatically.

After being put on hold for about 5 minutes the person agreed with me that I qualified Gold before QF10 flight and made a manual adjustment for the extra 937 points.

I am glad this experience is now over and thanks to QF who have been very helpful.

I appreciate the advice and support that everyone has given me through this experience. Thank you.

I'm prety sure it does happen automatically sometimes. When you change tiers, there is some work that is done in the background at Qantas. I've been told for example that your status on current bookings is not automatically upgraded, and that someone will change them for you after the status change. Looking at this points issue is probably an additional check that is made.

And the other important question - Did you get S/C's for the Cathay flight? If so, did you also get the S/C for the Finnair as well?

So now this is sorted out, any runs for WP JohnK?
Not with only 26 days remaining and limited funds!
I have booked and completed many DONE4s in less than 26 days. Piece of cake.

Now the limited funds may be a problem.

No SC's for Cathay flight. QF posted SC's as if it was the Finnair flight.

Likewise for *A RTWs.
Yes, agree that it is possible to complete a DONE4 or * RTW in less than 26 days but the $7K-$10K spent on the trip could well be my next 4-5 trips to Thailand.

In my position I know which option is the best by far. :P

You could also easily take 5 trips to Thailand in 26 days. You may get a few questions at Australian immigration however

I might just let sanity prevail and space the trips at more appropriate intervals so that I can have some much needed time away from work.

I am going to be a wimp and sit this out. Let someone else be the hero. :)

JohnK...

I am surprised at the things you do just to get Gold with Qantas. Is it really worth it? I mean.. Qantas Club access isn't really that fantastic. You must plan to consume alot of wine and chips, to recover what you spend on flights just to get status credits.
