They need not bother with turtle soup for me either. But the Giant Tortoise soup is another thing entirely.Or in other words I'm referring to a single specific animal - not just any old turtle.

Have to be careful though - Chelonoidis nigra dawini[SUP][/SUP] can get a bit gristly. I suggest Chelonoidis nigra chathamensis for that rich, Galapagos giant Tortoise flavour.

Here's the thing...

I am like you. I don't like a fuss. I don't *need* a host escort. I don't want to be one of those types to be pushed through to the front of lines as a priority because I have a F boarding pass. Maybe I am just 'doing F" wrong :D

I've done 16 segments with my infant daughter this past year. I'm quite enjoying this front of the line stuff regardless of airline, status or cabin of travel. Now I know why people have multiple kids. It's like renewing super VIP status.

Sure it's been a few years but I've done numerous fully paid F segments on Qantas as Platinum One and never once had any service near what I receive with an infant. Maybe it's something you need to reqest?

I have noticed several references to escorts in this thread and hopefully this isn't against site rules, but my secretary's colleague Mr Sidney James runs quite a successful escort service, so I am told, if anyone would like the details....

:p

As an aside I did not see a First Class Host on my 40 F sectors with QF, and to be honest had no need of one.

I do wonder how many people actually like the caviar versus those that eat it "because its expensive/fancy etc". I tried it on JAL, wasnt that fussed and wouldnt go out of my way for it. Gave the rest to TV to make sure it wasnt waisted (actually the FA passed it to him for me).

Food is subjective.

I thought it was CX,

TG used to serve it. Bird's nest soup also used to make the odd appearance on some menus around Asia.

I don't need a host - but faced with a one+ hour of TSA at ORD I'm happy to move to the front of the queue :) It's a win-win for everyone. Airports and governments get paid extra by the airlines for special handling. other passengers maybe save money because premium pax are paying extra.

I suspect QF wants to control the media and free advertising hence NDAs. With the announcement of the business class suites it was a full two years before anything started to roll out - so I'm not sure there's some competitive or commercial element here which they might be trying to protect.

What a pity I never want to have kids. I guess no name recognition as a P1 in F will have to do. pout

:D

Points upgrade into F for LAX flight tomorrow ex SYD.

Got a call at T-23 hrs from First host ... It came through with 'No Caller ID' which I routinely ignored, and it went to voice mail. Annoying that they do that (No Caller ID).

Voice mail was very thorough, asking me to ring back if I wanted kerbside help or spa treatment; confirming seat number (I'm glad it stuck!) etc.

I think pro-active offers of assistance should be there at all stages of a F flight, and they can happily bank on most of the offers not being taken up.

Ho ho. What I didn't say above is that I called back to reserve a table for breakfast, and it was taken, OK.

This morning, after i checked into the F lounge desk, I was greeted with 'Welcome Mr RooFlyer, please enjoy the lounge ...". I make my way over and the restaurant tells me that they don't take reservations, just take a seat. No probs. Then a young lady was seated beside me, escorted from the front desk. :) Maybe CL?

I enquired at the front counter about restaurant reservations and they confirmed no, no reservations (OK, but I'm sure I've seen 'reserved' signs on some tables before?). When I mentioned that the First Host had taken a reservation for me when I called back, the lady said "Oh, it must have been answered by a concierge ..." (notwithstanding it was answered by 'First host' ...)

That's what we love about QF isn't it? Consistently inconsistent :)

I wonder if the First Cabin Design Workshop' extended to boarding, in which case maybe they'll find a fix to this F boarding experience: ( yes I revel in being a DYKWIA :) )

You were given false information my friend.
The F lounge restaurant does take reservations.

Glad wasn't too busy and you managed to find a seat.
Have a safe flight :)

I've seen a reserved sign in Sydney.

Me too - several times. Most often when I've seen it used it's been by some celebrity or politician (so CL I assume) but they've been in and out in a flash so a reservation makes sense.

Normal F pax can book as well, shouldn't be a problem.

I wonder if the First Cabin Design Workshop' extended to boarding,

No - otherwise it would have been called the 'First Experience' design workshop.

The small and easily fixed things don't ever seem to be a priority... boarding, sufficient supplies of champagne, priority baggage, consistent crew (etc). All fixed for little or no cost, but for some reason a focus on hard product which might take years to roll out.

and that's a first-class summary ! Triple Amens from me !

and Roo Flyer yourF boarding experience looks more cattle than Class.
They can stagger boarding for 14.
Gosh how hard is it!

I once asked the F host when they phoned if I could reserve a table and while not saying "no" they evaded the issue by saying orders could be taken at the seats, so it wasn't necessary. Wasn't all that happy, but being my usual non pushy self I didn't press the issue. TBH I have never failed to get a table, especially now they have really extended the no of tables. However I wasn't all that happy with the response and it all added to the F- experience, which means now I have booked to fly F with SQ for the first time, in spite of being rock solid QF for so many years.

I'd be interested to know if all these services were requested by Flying Fox or just provided

and I've never once seen a F host at LHR (though to be fair I've only flown QF F out of there twice)

Services were provided; never requested. Gosh, I would feel like a real tosser asking for someone to walk me to the aircraft etc. I'm not even sure how that conversation would go...

Just to clarify, on the one occasion I did ask the SYD F Hostess when I exited the aircraft if she could get me on an earlier flight to ADL and she did oblige.

I enquired at the front counter about restaurant reservations and they confirmed no, no reservations (OK, but I'm sure I've seen 'reserved' signs on some tables before?). I have been told that the signs were used to save tables for larger groups or to be able to put tables together for larger groups.

Thats it. I met a proper-Tea Developer.
Had the family all dozen of em.
From young'un to oldest and mothers.

And a reserved table so that's $85,000 of fares sitting at the table.....

Host: I'm sorry I couldn't help you with xyz, is there anything else I can do for you?
Me: Would it be possible for you to collect us from the lounge when boarding starts and take us to the plane?

Simple, easy and I certainly didn't feel like a tosser.
