So due to QANTAS generoisty over the past few months, I was lucky enough to receive a free First lounge pass, which i am wanting to use this Saturday when I fly SYD-EZE, however I am flying with the better half, and I wanted to know if they will let both of us in.
I understand it is only for one, but I hardly ever travel OS without her?

Anyone got any experience or advice?

The invites are new and I doubt anyone has had experience with them, what do they say with regards admittance?

I havent received it yet, but on the email the fine print says....

^ Valid for a single visit to The Qantas First Lounge in either Sydney or Melbourne by one guest before the date specified on the invitation. Invitations cannot be renewed once expired. You must present the invitation on arrival at the lounge and be travelling that day on a Qantas or Jetstar flight (with a QF or JQ flight number on your ticket). Invitations are valid for Qantas First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne only. Invitations are not valid for Qantas Clubs, International Business Lounges, Qantas Domestic Business Lounges, oneworld® alliance airlines lounges, partner airlines lounges or associated lounges. Lost or stolen invitations will not be replaced, and damaged invitations may not be accepted. Invitations are not for resale. Voucher valid for use until end December 2012. Given the "one guest" part and the fact that the QF F Lounge is the strictest in he system (albeit not quite BA like), wouldn't be hopeful.

Regards,

Mark

I received one of these in the mail this week - very nice gesture on the part of QAN but useless as I nearly never travel OS solo...so who wants to gift me their invite so the mrs can join me :p

I'm going to say it's probably under similar rules as the QP invites that PS's get. Whilst I've never needed to use mine I was under the impression that it was for one person only.

I would ring the First Lounge (number in Qantas directory) 24 hours before you intend going.
Humbly say that you have recieved the invitaion and ask very nicely would they kindly let Mrs.X join you.

I can only speak for the Sydney Lounge, the whole team there are marvelous and we have never had an issue.
A box of chocalates for the front desk does wonders.:p

I got one today too. I'm curious about taking a guest. Don't want to rock up with the wife, " Sorry darling, there's a Hungry Jacks down by Gate 33. I'll catch you there..."

The invitations have hit Ebay.
Probably will be pulled before
sale completion.

There's one on there for $250 'Buy it now'. Is the lounge really that good?
I doubt it but some may think otherwise.

One can easily derive $50, maybe $100 or more, retail value out of the lounge visit but you could easily do without as well.

Not $250.00 good.

If the going ebay rate is $250.00  then my brother said he auction his on ebay, and forgo a First Lounge visit.

I don't think $250 is worth paying, though I say that from the comfortable position of someone who has access anyway. And if other people really want access and are prepared to pay $250 (or whatever) for it, then who am I to judge.

Oh, and the F lounge is pretty damn good. :)

I have spoken to QFF on several occasions re the pass - my wife received one and I did not - and they say there is nothing they can do.

Qantas even ousourced the delivery to a third party so if you are expecting one and it is delayed or never turns up - don't be surprised if they do no issue a replacement.

The pass only admits one person.

<redacted solicitation>

We will be travelling on 1st Jan together and this will be the last time for a number of years with the imminent arrival of a little one !

I am in the same situation. I received the letter in the mail about the last chance to get 50% extra points, however no pass where as a mate and my boss (both QF Gold members) received the pass with their letter. Needless to say, I am a little disappointed that I missed out. One of these days I will 'jag' one of these so called bonuses for my loyalty. ;)

I think as a one off experience just to do it, it might be worth $250. If I had never been to an F lounge and didnt expect to in the future I might be tempted based on the rave reviews here.

Were you travelling on one of the strike days or the grounding day?

The better half (SG) and I (WP) both got the "gifts" and couldn't figure out why (as neither of us were flying Qantas during the grounding), however after a bit of thought we remembered that we flew BNE-MEL on the morning of one of the engineer strikes. Didn't have even the smallest impact on us as we were on the 5am departure and they didn't "go-slow" until the afternoon, however I assume that the trigger for the gifts was simply flying on one of the impacted days.
