First Class Lounge Invite

You wouldn't waste your money on paying for a pass for the current Sing F lounge - its rubbish and is in fact the old J lounge while a new F lounge is built

Yes, I know, I was there in May. Knowing my circumstances better than you do, the passes were potentially cheaper than my current option.

The lounge is still going to be, on most occasions, better than being out in the concourse with the great unwashed masses though.

Anyone with QP or SG status is going to be able to go into the interim Business lounge without having to buy a F class lounge pass - my point is why would anyone pay a premium to get into the current F lounge in Sing as its the old Busines lounge

I doubt anyone pays a premium for lounge access. It's a nice to have rather than a have at all costs

You're right only you know your circumstances and not being clairvoyant I didn't know if you knew about the state of the Sing First class lounge - however I will now assume you know everything.and don't need or want other members to share their knowledge with you
It's your money - go for your life (although not possible in this case)
I'm sure you also know there are other paid lounge options in Singapore

Isn't buying a First Class Lounge pass on eBay paying a premium for lounge access? It seems many people are prepared to do that

I actually preferred the old J lounge to the F in terms of room and layout. The F lounge did have better showers though..

My apologies, I was only considering the QF F lounge. I have never paid directly for lounge access in the last decade.

By all means if they accept your sheckels then hand them over. It's just another transaction

You offered information that was not requested. It is not my fault that information wasn't required. It might be safer to assume that people ask questions about the things they don't know about, rather that assuming they know everything. That is certainly a very unsafe assumption. I have never claimed to know everything.

Oh and I answer your other wonderment. The passes were potentially cheaper in my situation, just to repeat myself.

Not sure if it helps, but the standard QP passes work in SIN, we used them going over to LHR for the extra person in our group.. that may be an option too? We all sat in the new J lounge.. wasn't too bad.

Cheers. Certainly an idea. The current option will see us in the QP, but I'll look into passes in more detail. Anyway, I don't want to drag this any further off topic.

Although, of all airports the Qantas fly to/through, SIN would have to be one of the better places to congregate with the 'unwashed' ...

I had two complimentary F Lounge passes, but thought I'd try my luck at only using one of them at a time (!) instead of handing over two to get my partner in. When I asked if he could join me they said it 'wasn't normal policy but they'd be more than happy to do so on this occasion'. The speedy answer and lack of hesitation or conference at the desk implied to me that they actually wouldn't usually say no!

I don't imagine they have that many free passes floating about, they know that they were distributed to Gold and above FF's, plus the Mel F Lounge is usually quiet anyway from what I've read so I doubt they'd be reluctant to polite enquiries!

Now I just need to organise another trip so I can use up the second pass...(and pray they let hubby in again!!)...

I think the passes were only given to Gold as Platinum can access the First lounge already. On a personal level I am not that keen on doing this sort of thing or advocating it. Nice that you scored a free pass (and I do recall when I once scored a free pass when I shouldn't) but not something I am hoping everyone who has one of these avails themselves of.

Rather than create a new thread thought I would ask it here. I will turn Plat at the end of this month for the first time.

Are the first class lounges in Melbourne and Sydney on the other side of customs or prior to it?

Sydney is definitely on the "other" side - ie past customs - ie you have to be travelling to access it - one guest is allowed
It's at the top of the escalator that is near Travelex (on the way to the Qantas Business lounge)

As you haven't been before you have a real treat in store - make sure you allow yourself sometime to enjoy the experience (a couple of hours should see you right :D)

I suspect the same applies for Melbourne as well

Yes, same for MEL. Up the escalator near gate 9.

Thanks. So looks like no sneaking out for a smoke then after the first first visit.

My partner and I received one each we are/were Silver and QP life. It was a lovely gift. Our daughter also silver, received a single domestic QP pass.
