First Class Lounge Invite

My partner and I received one each we are/were Silver and QP life

I assume this was as a result of the service cancellations last year?
I got nothing! (but I wasn't impacted at that time)
No matter - with the gift of Docuble SC's I've clawed my way over the Platinum line and will be savouring the delights of the First Class Lounge over the next 12 months!

My experiences with these passes, QP rather than Flounge though, have been:
1. Lounge dragon insists on one pass per person
2. Lounge dragon allows Mr and Mrs Happy Dude in on the one pass
3. Lounge dragon allows Happy Dude in on the one pass but doesn't take the pass ("use it for another time")
4. Lounge dragon allows Mr and Mrs Happy Dude in on the one pass AND doesn't take the pass.

Quite a range of outcomes, although the first one is pretty common - especially now that Little Miss Happy Dude is on the scene. It's entirely linked to the whim/attitude of the lounge dragon, which may be influenced by factors such as time of day, time since last coffee or nookie, sports results, planetary orbits, and such and such.

I am traveling to US in December with my 2 older siblings, this is their first trip abroad, and would like them to experience the Flounge in Sydney. I can guest 1 into the Flounge as I ame one world platinum with AA. Does anyone have experience with tring to get a second guest/family member into the Flounge? Can I ask at First class check in if they have a pass? Thanks for all your help. Love this forum!

It's a guess but given you're not a Qantas Platinum I suspect no joy - but why not buy one off eBay? - they're going for $70-$100 at the moment....

Hi mckinj02. I have a pass that I am prepared to give up as I will not be using it. If you PM me your mailing details I would be more than happy to send it to you.

That is awesome...thank you Eddie Bauer...hope I can return the favour one day!

Thanks. So looks like no sneaking out for a smoke then after the first first visit.

Back in the days when I was a smoker (more than ten years ago now I'm proud to say), I used to whack a nicotine patch on for long-haul travel - completely negated the need for a smoke (although be warned, if you fall asleep with one on, you may have some outstandingly weird and vivid dreams!)

Hi,
I have a invite for the 1st lounge but it has a expiry date of 31st of december 2012. I was wondering if anyone had one with a later expiry date that they may want to swap? It would be alot more convenient for me to use early next year when I am doing a international flight, but if no one has one then I will just do a domestic flight from sydney from the international terminal as has been shown here on the forum.
I thought someone may be planing to use their pass in the next few months before december and would be willing to swap. Based in Melbourne and can easily swap one lunch in the CBD if it suits.

PM me if this suits, thanks,
EuroFlyer

I believe they were a special purpose invite to cover the groundings issue, as such I would be surprised if there are alternate dated vouchers around!

Hi markis10, I never thought of that actually, i had thought perhaps other fflyers may receive a 1st invite every now and then when they hit a certain level such as gold, when I requalify for silver each year i normally get a qantas club invite sent.
Il make sure to use it up before december I think, it would be nice to see the 1st lounge.
thanks for the reply.

Just looking at the various offerings on ebay, there is a steady availability. The majority are dated Set / Oct. And, there seem to be a few dates up to next March. I haven't seen anything past March though. You could buy another one for around $100 if you don't get another one 'donated'. I think for a one-off to impress and enjoy, they are worth it, esp if you have at least 2 hours to get yr money's worth.

There is one for June 2013 which is interesting, must be another way of getting them!

Ebay/Qantas must have had a disagreement. Now there's QFF Points being hocked along with the PJ's and Lounge Passes.

Around $250 = 10,000 points.

Last year I could make 8000 points flying for that price, so it's not too bad a deal if you don't have a CC I guess, but I'm not biting.

24hrs to go for 75,000 points. 1 bid received so far at $1,000!

75K points would get you (not that I am saying this is good value) two return biz class flights SYD-MEL - they retail for about $1,100 each so quite a potential saving...

I will wait until another AFF'er has purchased points off ebay and provided confidence that it is not a scam first, but even then there is no guarantee that the next one won't so it is not for me, I earn plenty anyway. There are a lot currently available, it is quite surprising. Still $1k and only 55 minutes to go!
