Re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

Oh, great.

How to get into the Qantas First Class Lounge on domestic flights - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

JQ domestic flights being ineligible for F lounge access will be among enhancements to QFF in the not too distant future, I predict.

Do you actually seriously think QF aren't fully aware of this and do you actually think this article will result in an influx of people in the F lounge?

I beg to take a different view here.

WP is not "dime a dozen" at all.

Sure, on AFF there are so many that tends to diminish its prestige and achievement but out in the real world, I suspect it is not that common at all.

Also, out of that small number of WPs, how many would have the time to schedule a so-called FLounge run - at odd times / odd days ?

So, I doubt if it will make any material difference to what is going on right now.

My 2c!

Re: Strategy to get "Early" JQ check-in for International

While these stories are annoying when they are published in mainstream media, it's only for WPs and above and involves an international departure/arrival and picking a specific flight

The majority of people won't go through this hassle as they would generally be time-poor

I'm sure they've done this story before, or something very similar.

Hmm .. see post #247 ...

I knew it was recent, only last month.

It's jut fairfax picking up another article written by David Flynn of ABT. but to be on the front page of theage.com.au gives it somewhat more publicity.

have to agree though, it's still restricted to platinums so it's not like Joe Blow is going to book a flight today and be enjoying my pavlova in a glass tomorrow

"How to get a first-class start to domestic flights" - ie, JQ for QF F lounge access

How to get a first-class start to domestic flights
Qantas's First Class lounges aren't out of bounds on domestic flights - but only if you're willing to fly with Jetstar.
Qantas First Class Lounge Entry On Jetstar Domestic Flights

Not news to anybody here of course but interesting to see this out in 'the mainstream'. I wonder if

a) JQ will see a sudden increase in bookings for these flights, or is the 'average' WP not going to be bothered with the hassle of flying JQ just for QF F lounge access

b) QF might rethink WP access to the First lounge for domestic flights, maybe change the rules and direct them to the J lounge?

I heard something about good PR, but I'd imagine most wouldn't make use of it like we do ;)

Here I was wondering what serfty referencing post #247 was about.....

Re: "How to get a first-class start to domestic flights" - ie, JQ for QF F lounge acc

I honestly doubt this will see any meaningful influx in pax at the F lounge. I've known about this for quite a while yet will only be able to take advantage of it for the first time this Saturday.

It is just too inconvenient 9 times out of 10 to do this: it is only available to WPs and most WPs won't have the extra time when travelling between SYD and MEL to go through Int terminal check in and screening times, and don't forget the time waiting to check-in at the JQ desk.

The only reason I did this was because it is on a weekend so I have the time (this usually isn't a big enough factor for me to fly JQd from Int) and also because a friend is joining me and he wanted to check out the F lounge.

I agree its not something I do every week, or even every month. maybe a few times a year for fun.

Re: "How to get a first-class start to domestic flights" - ie, JQ for QF F lounge acc

A few WPs who haven't flown int'l on QF might be inclined to do so after this.

It is not like publicising a mistake fare.

Re: "How to get a first-class start to domestic flights" - ie, JQ for QF F lounge acc

I do it as currently BNE based, often travelling privately to MEL. Most of my flying for work is in QLD. It's a very nice lunch stopover on the way from BNE to MEL.

I'd say to most WPs the idea of flying Jetstar would be too horrific to even contemplate this!

A trip to the F Lounge certain does take the edge of that horror. I find my J* post traumatic stress disorder is successfully inoculated by Taittinger. Having once flown J* without an F Lounge visit, I can say that this is evidence based.
