But this would have to be via LHR? I could imagine that F BKK-LHR-SIN would be $10k, and probably not a very popular routing.

There doesn't appear to be a F service Bkk/Sin.

You may be right on the BA price. Didn't look at the routing. Just saw the price and started using Expedia to find something else. Went with the Emirates and United flights (Bkk/Hkg/Sin) as that added 2 more dishes and wines (lounges) to the F Degustation menu for a reasonable price.

Total cost was ~A$3.4k plus ~250,000 points to sample F on 5 airlines and 6 aircraft, plus the lounges and massages.

9.5 hours, QF 744, Syd/Bkk
3 days in Bkk

2.5 hours Thai 744, Bkk/Hkg
2 days in Hkg

2.5 hours CX 744, Hkg/Bkk
2 days in Bkk

2.5 hours Emirates 388, Bkk/Hkg
3.5 hours United 744, Hkg/Sin
1 day in Sin

8.5 hours QF 388, Sin/Syd

I consider that very good value for the money and points even though I could have done all the routing QF and CX to max SCs and points. Decided to checkout the other side for a change. Joining the Cathay, Emirates, Thai and United FFer programs as well so come post 24 Aug there will be several pathways open if I don't like what AJ reveals.

I don't think the F lounges inspiring beyond SYD.

i hear BKK gets a good rap, but would like to hear more.

I do expect good things from the Thai F Lounge at Bkk. Like a out of this world Thai massage.

The TG BKK F lounge isn't that impressive as a lounge per se, but the entire process is probably as good as you can get. Firstly, you get a separate F check in, a personal assistant to help you through the exclusive customs and security checkpoint adjacent to the check-in area, then you get a buggy ride to the F Lounge. As a F pax and depending how long you have, you can immediately ask to book in for a 1.5hr massage full body thai oil massage or a quick 30 minute head, shoulder and feet massage if you are short on time. The Royal Orchard Spa is opposite the F Lounge so its a dedicated spa area. Yes I opted for the 1.5hr oil massage and it was divine just before a flight.

The F Lounge you'll likely get a semi-private room where it opens to the main areas, the alcohol choices were Ok, the food choices were a-la carte as well (which will be delivered to your room, unless you want to dine in the restaurant).

No announcements are made in the lounge for boarding, however your assistant will come and find you when your plane is ready for boarding. You may or may not get a buggy to the boarding gate, so expect to walk the final few hundred metres to your plane.

Regardless, do enjoy! I'm envious!

I have planned at least 3 hours in each Lounge, so as to sample as much as I can. If you have ever been in the QF/BA cubby house FLounge at Bkk, which seems to get the left over food and booze from the QF/BA J lounge right across the passage :( the Thai FLounge sounds like heaven. :D Especially the 1.5 hour massage. Purrr...........fect

I also can't wait for the TR!

Hope that you have a great time!

I go get my food to take away on the 4th floor in BKK...

Video of Thai FLounge at Bangkok and F on the Thai 744. The SPA will be the first item on the agenda for that flight. 90 minutes of heaven, then Lobster and what ever is on offer.
Thai Airways International First Class Flight Bangkok- Frankfurt - YouTube

The Emirates A380 F looks hard to beat, especially the in flight shower at 38,000 feet, then Salmon and what follows, plus a few drinks and nibbles at the bar:
Emirates Airlines A380 First Class-Bangkok to Hong Kong - YouTube

Cost for these 2 flights is A$1,435 or about A$700 each. At that price, everyone can afford a 2 x 2.5 hour taste of F and the associated FLounge experience.

The final leg with the QF 380 in F, I suspect will have a bit of work to do. Probably ask the FA where the shower and bar is and if QF do 2.5 hour F sectors for A$700? Well QF does do Syd/Bkk in F for ~120,000 points and I suggest that is also good value.

It will be interesting to see what AJ rolls out post 24 Aug as I enjoy the 90 minute heated oil massage in the Thai Bangkok FLounge and think about the Emirates A380 fight back from Hkg.

Gotta admit the food in the J or F QF/BA Lounge in Bkk is not what your would write home about. Reds are also very ordinary. Only thing that makes the Bkk QF/BA FLounge work for me is the Smoked Salmon. I also ask for the Wolf Blass black label Shiraz as the Rosemount is not, IMHO, a F Lounge red wine. They only seem to put out the Wolfie if you ask for it. Once it is gone, they do not replace it with another Wolfie but normally with another Rosemount. :(

Thanks for the tips :)
Flying BA SYD-BKK, QF BKK-LHR in a few weeks. Will be looking for a few glasses of decent red prior to the second leg.
Also: does anyone know what the quality/ queues are like for the QF/BA showers in BKK?
I usually go via SIN or HKG and cannot remember the last time I was in BKK( except for the hideous smoking lounges I walked past en-route to Lounge)

There are ample showers inside both the J and F lounges. If the FLounge is open, check the bottles for a acceptable red and if not ask for a bottle of the "Good" red. You can only get smoked salmon in the F lounge. The F Lounge has limited opening hours. I normally start in the J lounge and then walk across the hall when the F lounge opens.

Enjoy.

Nice.. should be a great experience.

I am doing a F run of my own, mel-hkg-ord//ewr-zrh-del-bkk-syd in QF F, CX F (really looking forward to this), UA F, LX new F, TG regional F, TG F.

Way to go. Let us know about the flights, seating, food, FA, F lounges etc.

For me the highlights should be the Thai F Lounge and the massage, the Emirates shower at 38,000 feet, the Emirates bar and the difference between the QF 744 and the 388 in F. Will be good to compare notes and photos.

I also have a new pair of Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones to compare against the various F offerings.

Is this contagious??

Why not? I have spent way to much of my flying life in -Y exit row seats. Now AFF has shown me the way to fly F at well below QF J prices or by using FASAs, just for classic award points. I do consider <240,000 points for Syd/Bkk and Sin/Syd to be exceptional value for the points.

Enjoy the experience - look forward to the TR. In a few months I will be checking out F with MH via KUL to LHR so it will provide a good comparison.

For sure. Will be interested in learning about your MH trip as well.

Seems AJ has caused a few of us to taste what others have to offer.

I would have loved a trip in F with QF to LHR, but at nearly double the points required and no availability there was really no choice.
