First class taster

I am doing a F run of my own, mel-hkg-ord//ewr-zrh-del-bkk-syd in QF F, CX F (really looking forward to this), UA F, LX new F, TG regional F, TG F.

Very nice buddy. My one and only CX F experience was great, and from what I have seen/read on the LX F .... it looks verrrry nice.

I also have a new pair of Bose QuietComfort 15 headphones to compare against the various F offerings.

What? Using your own headseat?!? :shock: You're not comparing which F cabin has the best NC headsets too?

QF F headseats are the same as J. If you have your own fav Bose/Sennheiser/etc. NC headphones, then I would recommend taking them. You like the sound their produce and you like comfort.

Has anyone had the Spa experience with LH in Germany where you get picked up airside in a Porsche Cayenne and get whisked off for special treatment?
I would like to try that but being a creature of habit I go QF,BA and SQ in First so I am intrigued by the taster concept.

I find the Bose QC 15s the best headphones I have ever used. When you switch then on, it is like being in a float isolation tank. No noise and audio quality is excellent. I have worn them for several hours. They are very light and the ear comfort is outstanding. I forget I have them on.

The LH FCT (First Class Terminal) with Porsche ride to plane. Must be travelling in LH F or be (or travelling with) a LH HON member to access this.

Anat0l recently experienced the LH FCT a few months ago (if my memory is correct), he might be the one to ask 'cove'.

Does SQ codeshare with LH? If so, Cove, you might be able to fly LH F to SIN (SQ codeshare) on the way home, l don't know about using points for this though........?????


Lufthansa launching A380 service to Singapore

Lufthansa’s third A380 destination in Asia – Flights to Jakarta from Munich from start of winter timetable

From 30 October, when the winter timetable goes into effect, Lufthansa will operate a daily A380 service on its Frankfurt-Singapore route. From that date, one of the eight A380s in the Lufthansa fleet will take off from Frankfurt at 22.05 hrs under flight number LH 778 bound for Singapore.

On 30 October, Lufthansa will also transfer its service to Jakarta via Singapore from Frankfurt to Munich. The route will be operated with an Airbus A340-300. Passengers arriving in Singapore on the A380 flight from Frankfurt will have plenty of time to transfer to the onward flight to Indonesia.

The A380 can accommodate 526 passengers in comfort – eight in First Class, 98 in Business Class and 420 in Economy class. Meanwhile, Lufthansa’s flagship has scored top marks in terms of technology, ecological efficiency and sustainability. With a fuel burn of only 3.4 litres per 100 passenger-kilometres, it is about 30 per cent quieter than previous wide-bodied jets.​

• LH 779 Singapore 23:55 hrs – Frankfurt 05:55 hrs

Yes you must try out the LH First Class Terminal in FRA, and here is my quick review a few weeks back:

The whole LH process from start to end is top notch. Met by your own personal assistant at FCT check in, escorted through formal security and scanning, quick tour if it's your first visit, a-la carte restaurant (though menu not extensive as QF FL), food buffet is very good, bar is more extensive, service levels is high, lounge areas are generally more private, relaxed, less busier than the commercial quality QF FL, sleeping rooms (2 only), cigar room (cigars and cigarellos complimentary too) - yes I smoked a few , showers are much larger than QF FL, LH spa is a pay-service unlike complimentary for QF FL if flying QF F, then the personal assistant comes to collect you when it is time for boarding, down the elevator, through private passport control, onto your Porsche or Mercedes transfer directly to your plane, your driver carries your carry-on's onto the plane ..... that's as easy as it gets.

I can say I was there, but I can't say I mixed with any jetsetters as the lounge/FCT was spacious and empty when I was there

Hi - just a friendly cautionary word on the Beats headphones - I recently bought a set of Studio Beats and was actually unimpresed with the sound quality and noise cancellation compared to my old Sony NC ones... YMMV, however I sincerely regret my purchase when my 4 yo $120 Sony units out-perform them

Just make sure you've had a chance to thoroughly sample the new ones before you dump your cash.

FWIW Harvey Norman have them on sale at the moment for $395 and I managed to get another $45 off that... But I have a feeling that i will put them on eBay before the moth is out (they're a week old!)

Using SQ points to snag LH F. If you can't see LH F online in SQ awards, try calling SQ.
However, info on FT seems to suggest/point that 'some' star alliance members aren't releasing F to each other but keeping it for their own members. Good luck.

Yeah I am not expecting much from Dr Dre's Beats but I just like the gloss colours they have. I'll end up getting the gloss black and the girlfriend will have a red no doubt. (And buying things in the USA is like much cheaper than here anyway so it won't hurt too much dollar wise).

Bought my Bose QC 15s via Amazon. Even with shipping (Fedex) they were less than A$300.

Short comment on the first leg. I feel the Mel F lounge is better than Syd F lounge. Salt and Pepper Squid (SPS) in Syd is battered while the SPS in Mel is not. Prefer Mel SPS. Wider wine selection in Mel F lounge as well. Flew Syd/Bkk leg in F on QF1. Excellent crew, wines and food. The 8 course degustation menu onboard QF1 was very enjoyable. Was in 4A, which is really good as the baby bassinet is excellent storage space. Other F seats seem to lack enough storage, especially the middle 2 seats. Recommend 4A or 4K. Bed was a bit too short for my 1.9 mtr frame to fully stretch out. Interesting to have a window in the loo with a white porcelain sink. Scored some F PJs which is good as my old J PJs are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Leaving tomorrow, 24 Aug, 1600 for Hkg with That F. Thai F lounge massage will be interesting.
