MrMaxwell, did you do J or Y? if latter how were the seats?.

Good tip, will take my iPad anyway.

Both QF3 and QF4 were missing the iPads on my recent trip to HNL...I guess these won't be on the HNL flights? The streaming worked perfectly from my own iPad however so BYO with cover to use the backseat hanger it seems.

How do you access it on your own device? URL?

I flew Y...seats were average. New seat covers do not make the original seat anymore comfortable IMO.

Also interesting was that at no point on both flights was an announcement made advising PAX Qstream was available. I got it going on my iPad and then the chinese whispers started back down the cabin as people began to work it out.

I have no issue with these refurb 763s doing domestic runs, however 10hr HNL trips are the worst in Y - new carpet or not.

Edit. Flights were 95% full in Y and 100% full in J both ways...lots of money being made off these 763s

Going Y SYD/HNL today in exit seats, still not looking forward to it.

(with my iPad of course).

We were in Y on 3 March to HNL. Didn't use the iPad but ended up attaching it to the seat in front as the pocket got too full and annoying with the iPad, inflight magazine, duty free shopping catalogue and other stuff. Refurb didn't make being in Y any more comfortable :)

Agreed, a leather headrest and an iPad is hardly groundbreaking.

Exit seats OK but near toilets, seats not comfortable, service & food ordinary. Qantas a world class airline Mr.Joyce...my foot not anywhere near it with these old clunkers, about time they woke up and offered anything better than this.

Did you use Q streaming to your own iPad? Thoughts on the experience?

On 1st March did SYD/HNL returned 8th March on 767, had Y exit seats 34J/K facing bulkhead, on return changed to exit seats behind 35J/K, huge amount of room between our seat and one in front was more like J, this also had rear seat pocket and able to store computer bag under seats (unlike bulkhead must be stored above).

New interior very drab and uninviting, some seat backs torn on corners already, no place to hang own iPad with Apple front cover on, mine fell off back of seat a few times, its a poor design, seats squabs very thin, however, service from FA's both ways excellent, served quick, food Ok, trays cleared not long after meal finished.

Mr.Joyce this is no world class airline, just a poor implementation of a rather old product.

Sorry, but how many times does it need to be said that QF don't have the aircraft available? 788/789's etc etc.

Well... I believe many would say, "Too bad, so sad." Call it bad fate if you will.

I guess they could swap out a A330 from say domestic ops and put it here (they'd need the crew as such, though). Or even swap it out from, say, MNL.

Main thing for now is that they somehow still fill that plane anyway. And my guess would be if numbers fell dramatically, the answer would not be improve the product, but withdraw.

or "Qantas will only move to upgrade a route to better equipment after their competitors do it "

Who flies ex Aust to HNL that you would consider to be a world class airline?

HA BNE/HNL in a 763 older that QF's
HA SYD/HNL A330
JQ SYD/HNL A330
FJ via NAN or NAN & APW or CXI on a 738
NZ via AKL on a B763
UA ex CNS via GUM on a 738/777

Your most luxurious bet would to purchase the required amount of USDM & fly OZ SYD/SEL/HNL on the 773 but you won't get the full flat beds in J unless the a/c is a 77W.

Flew MEL-SYD in a refurbed 767 last week in Business.
Quite impressed with the overall look.
Love the biq roo on the central bulkhead, and the iPad stowage points work well.

What surprised my was the metal cages that were still under pretty much every seat
-- I thought these were the old IFE system and should be able to be taken out.

no place to hang own iPad with Apple front cover on
Which airline provides a solution letting you hang your own iPad..

Of course that flimsy Apply cover can't be hung.
Used the one that Qantas provides which comes in a case for hanging or use your tray tab;le

Those metal boxes look about the size of the orange 'black box' flight data recorders.

Flew on OGV last week with the ipad. Whilst there was good clarity in the earpiece I found that with the music, you may be on track 3 & it will get to a certain point in that track & it skips back to track 1

Another album when I went to play a certain song it wouldn't even play it & jumped back to the black Qstreaming screen.

I always take my Toshiba netbook with me anyway as the functionality is heaps better than what an ipad offers.

Mr. Joyce keeps saying Q is a world class airline not me, so is this refurbed 767 world class, NO.

Which other airline has a place to hang ones own iPad with just a cover.. none I know of but why?, i mean there are umpteen million of us using one. I used a pillow on the table and propped the iPad up on there. I like to watch my own music videos and movies.

My understanding is they use the same 767 aircraft each day, so they can't find one other like a refurbed 747.

Agree, J looked much better.

Reason why they can't find a refurbed 747 - because there are only 9 and these are getting used on the routes such as BNE-SIN & LAX, to DFW, to SCL hence the limited number. If you are talking about refurbing a 767 into that standard, cost, timing and life left on the 767 fleet are prohibitive reasons as to why not.
Also, the other 747's are being retired. Considering the other competitors only use 330's on the route, a 747 would be too much aircraft currently. The only way I see them doing something is taking one of the 330's off domestic ops.
