Well that time of year has rolled around again and I'm off to the first 3 days. I'm having to slum it in the Cricketers Club and have lunch each day in the Don Bradman Room. I am fortunate to go with the same group each year - my father, uncle and clients.

I'll give the ocassional commentary (on the cricket) and photo's of lunch (bit like J class menu & service).

If anybody is at the cricket, let me know and we'll try to meet up. Alas, I can't guest anybody in, as all guest spots taken (organised 3 months ahead).

Go the Aussies!

National Anthem with teams

Australia won the toss and sent NZ in. Ben Cutting is 12th man - very disappointing for the local boy

I thought NZ won the toss and elected to bat

Lets just hope our stumble bums can do better than they have been over the last several years...

Oh what a fall from greatness, i'd be more than happy if they redrafted pigeon and langer and warnie, gillie and the other champs even after several years of retirement and getting a bit long in the tooth over what we have been putting up with...

Sitting in the dining room and there have been 2 wickets, haven't seen who yet or the drops. Nice to see Lyon with his first wicket

LW, can you nick round the corner to Shafston Ave and bring my washing in?

Ah LW, thanks for the updates.
Alas I cant make it to QCC for the GABBA test this year.
Will be doing exactly what you are doing though (minus the detailed reports) for the Melbourne equivalent from the MCC.
Cricket's Back!!!
:):):)

Had a wonderful lunch:

and the wine list:

We are fortunate enough to know about the secondary list (from the Wisdon Room):

Sadly, we were only able to garner a 2007 St Henri after the opening 2006. No this wasn't paired with the Champagne - that was the other side of the table (the ladies):

Back to watching the cricket - somewhere along the way we got a wicket :o

I think an early end to the day is just around the corner:

For people in parts of the BRISBANE CITY, MORETON BAY, IPSWICH CITY, SUNSHINE COAST and SOMERSET Council Areas.

Issued at 2:39 pm Thursday, 1 December 2011.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Ipswich, Woodford and Mount Mee. These thunderstorms are slow moving. They are forecast to affect Caboolture, Lake Manchester and Mount Beerwah by 2:55 pm and northern Bribie Island, Beerwah and Peachester by 3:25 pm.

Very heavy rainfall and flash flooding are likely.

50mm of rain has been recorded near Ipswich in the last hour.

I see there's a rain delay at the moment..
I'm sure the light isnt a problem in the Bradman Room though!
Sounds like a most enjoyable lunch...
Very happy to see the Jim Barry "Cover Drive" on offering at the QCC.. the MCC removed this from their offerings, obviously weren't happy with the cricket wine theme for some strange reason...

Dessert, now I'm back inside the wi-fi zone inside the Club

This is starting to get ugly. The Club are happy as everybody is inside drinking. The negative is that I'm starting to get happy, very happy. Well you start drinking Coronas...
