Flexi Fare = unlimited drinks?

Is it true that on a flexi fare you can order as many drinks as you want?

I've seen refills given from the flexi alcohol range given for free, but not sure what the policy is.

Recently on a flexi fare I ordered a Pure Blonde with my "meal", then later in the flight (DRW - PER so plenty of time to spare) ordered and paid for a pie, but had another Pure Blonde at no charge, however was advised (very nicely of course) if I wanted any more would need to pay.

This is correct. Also the same with the free alcohol on the Capital City services.

the new orange and mango juice is quite nice. I think that is unlimited for Flexi's.

I always thought it was 1 soft drink/juice and 1 coffee/tea.

not that it's likely you will get 2 drinks on a MEL/SYD or SYD/BNE service with all the fart arsing about they do with the most dysfunctional methods I have ever seen..! I can not believe how much time is wasted... a time and motion study is needed onboard short VA flights...

Agreed - I have no idea how much work is getting done behind the scenes but since flexi meals were introduced the time between the double-ding during climb and the first pax being served (whether that be a flexi tray or the drinks cart) seems to have blown out dramatically. I thought that might change as procedures get bedded in but still no sign yet!

It's not isolated to Virgin though - NZ's 'seats to suit' is a very similar model. I've only done a couple of flights with them under this model but it's the same story - it seems to take an hour to get the first pax served.

But that's good news regarding the drinks with flexis - back when it was a single beer, wine or juice with the flexi meal I asked the FA if he'd sell a beer to the next pax who wanted one for $5 so that I could take a soft drink from the cart instead. I'm not sure he understood my cunning plan. I don't drink much, and even less so during short-haul flights so the chance to have a couple of soft drinks is welcome!

Not for me on my recent flight to Rockhampton from Brisbane - told most firmly not entitled to a second orange-mango drink.

I also asked if I could get unlimited food on business class and they said I could.

So it seems Flexi is a bit of a grey area?

What type of aircraft were you on? If it were an ATR, perhaps they only pack one meal each on a short flight? Could you buy a second, or were you just told no?

The March Voyuer magazine contains a statement on the Virgin Australia meal service, which for Flexi was that a meal and beverage package was provided, and additinal snacks/drinks are available for purcahse.

I've got it at work.....there was an interesting article on DJ partnering on a bio-av-gas alternative fuel from just about any bio-mass. That to me, would have to rate right up there as the most promising Voyuer article ever!

They'll only come through the cabin twice with their food and beverages... so if you're entitled to unlimited you'll probably have to chase after them / keep pressing on the attendant button and get on their nerves!

The last time I flew on a flexi fare was last September. It was SYD-MKY. We were allowed unlimited items from the standard food menu, and unlimited drinks including spirits. I flew on a flexi fare again this week, and was disappointed that my drink was limited to one of those half-size cans of soft drink (would it cost THAT much to give flexi pax a full size can of Pepsi?) and a meal plate full of food containing dairy which I cannot eat.

Definitely I am not in favor of the flexi food&beverage changes that have occurred over the past 6 months.

That sounds astonishingly more generous than any flexi fare flight that I've ever taken, and I don't think that's ever been a standard level of flexi fare service. Sounds more like 'catering issues' meant that flexi trays were unavailable so the cart was opened as compensation? I can certainly understand the disappointment if expectations were an open cart and instead you got the day-old wrap!

Ahhh, could be. The full menu wasn't available through the cart because it was a shorter flight (so mostly, it was the lower-cost items that were available, but that suited me just fine), and it was one of the E-190's, so maybe they hit some sort of space or weight limitation on the food trays due to it being a packed-full flight full of miners?

LOL, exactly, the day-old cardboard wrap on one flight and the spinache-feta scroll on the other one. Guess how happy I was? I was in business meetings from early morning until 90 minutes before departure, so there was no chance to eat before the trip. Then, the SYD-BNE leg was late getting to BNE, so there wasn't time to grab something there before getting on the next flight to my final destination, either. It was about 6:30pm before I got something to eat for the first time that day.

I probably should have just spent the $5 on some Morish mix.

from Gold Coast to Sydney it was unlimited drinks as well. Snacks you had to pay extra for though.
